Today we had to say goodbye to Rufus. He lived a full life and was the best dog and protector we could ask for. I hope he is somewhere playing with tank.

Losing a pup is really painful. I’m so sorry for your loss, my 1.5 year old just had a hospital scare with pneumonia and internal bleeding near his spleen and the vets thought he wouldn’t make it. Thankfully Vito pulled through, but I was a wreck the entire time he was at the vet. Their unconditional love for us humans is truly special.

So sorry for your loss. We lost our 16 year old Shiba Inu on Easter Sunday last year. Had him since he was a puppy. Saying goodbye to our furry friends is one of the hardest things to have to do.
It's so so tough. Best wishes to you and your family.

The late GREAT Dane "Dallas" (as in 'bigger-than') with his Vizsla play-pal "Lazslo". Long passed but still missed. RIP dear friends.

I am very sorry about your lost. I been through that few times and it really hurts Like the first time. The Dr I take my dogs says that if they can last 30 years still not enough time spent together.

I hope they are as well Frank. Very sorry for your loss. Great Pyrenees (my assumption from the photos) are great protectors. I read a recent story of one in Georgia who fought off a pack of coyotes to his great harm.

And I just now listened to “Maggie’s Song” by Chris Stapleton as recommended by @kb2755 and it really hit home again.

Yes, he was a Great Pyrenees and an amazing protector. I will miss him and it's been a hard week not having him around.

Sorry to hear about your loss Frank. I have a collection of urns with my dog's ashes from over the years. I was a K-9 handler for over 20 years and went thru 3 dogs in that time and losing them never gets easier. The Beagle in these photos, Peanut, has since passed from cancer as well. His passing hit me really hard, especially considering that I only had him a few years. He was about 12 (they think) when I rescued him. Hopefully I gave him the best last years of his life.

The dog with him is 3-Step. Found him at about 3 months old in 2013 at a rail yard in Miami with his left rear leg cut off, probably from an Amtrak train going thru the wash rack in the yard at a slow speed. The litter of puppies was born there and played around the trains all the time. He had never been touched by a human when I caught him and took him to the vet.

These photos are from a cross country road trip a couple years back in a rented pickup.

Hey folks, I lost my pal Tank yesterday very suddenly. He was 6 years old and we adopted him as a surrender at 2.5 years of age and he was a great family member and looked to always keep the peace in the house. A large inoperable (and probably rare) stomach tumor took him. The vet had only seen this type of tumor once before in 20 years.

Tank loved to go for rides, and he would nudge his hanging leash with his nose to let you know it, and I'm ashamed to say I had only taken him for a single ride in my new truck. I ran him to Tractor Supply on a cool overcast day using a vinyl rear seat cover. When I came back out after about 2 minutes he was in the front passenger seat, and I thought - "Well I've got extra large ventilation holes up there now." (No holes were made but on an older Honda I had, he did puncture the thin leather seats - which is why I got the vinyl cover.) I tried to get pics of him in the truck, but with a black interior and he being so black (not just "black" but "Washington Black" for fans of the series "Psych"), the pics did not come out and I deleted them figuring "I've got time to get others - He's still very young.".

I held off on any other rides with him, because I I figured I should be smart enough to be able to think up a better riding alternative, and now that chance has passed. So much for being smart...

So for Tank - I'd appreciate it if you have any pics of your 4 legged pals and your trucks (or non-trucks) that you wouldn't mind posting.

Thanks everyone - I'm feeling a lot less than my avatar namesake for some reason now...

So sorry for your loss. Dogs are definitely a Mans best friend. Ive lost two of my other best friend/companions over the years, one to old age and one to Cancer also. It sucks. :-(
This is Finley in my Ranger Tremor. She loves going for rides with us. Hope these posts help bring back good memories of Tank.
