37’s is too big for OP’s lift kit size.get outta here with that nonsense. rule 1: we never discourage bigger tires
Yeah, I don't know why people are "OK" with sacrificing safety over looks.37’s for a 4 inch lift kit is way TOO big. you can trim and cut as much as you want sure, but you’re sacrificing the aesthetics and structural integrity of a vehicle. just my 2 cents.
37’s with 6 inch lift would require A TON of trimming. i had a hard time fitting 35’s with a 6 inch lift myself.4” lift looks good with 35’s, but with 37’s looks stuffed
6” lift would look better with 37’s
Stock gears. Shifting is fine, not as good as before, but not bad. It used to shift like butter, I've seen people complain about these 10 speeds, but I thought it was amazing. I bought it from a Ford dealer and I know they had to do a computer update to fix some stupid thing with a trailer light error, so maybe there was an update to shift points. It still shifts better than my '21 Explorer.Looks good.
Stock gears? Shift points carry over pretty decent?
With 3.73s and 33s I'm at 2000rpm at 80 5L
34.5" is what I plan on going to after leveling and should turn around 1850 - 1900rpm. 2200rpm towing in 8th at 70.
Truck is new and averaging a tick below 19mpg by notepad. I'm curious to see what the 3.5 will like gearing wise. Little load never hurt turbochargers. Also wonder about trans Temps.
Pretty cool keep us updated.
You did a super clean job trimmingThe trimming seems to have been completely sufficient and then some. With the tire brands that the "37s" are actually 36.5 I think you could get away with a lot less trimming. You can see from the pics what the cutting was. Front and rear crash bars are chopped.
I wish I could take the credit - the shop that installed the lift did the trimmingYou did a super clean job trimming
Great action shots! Gorgeous truck!Alright, it's been a couple weeks, things got busy. Took the kids shooting yesterday and was able to get in some dirt.
So far haven't had any rubbing whatsoever. The trimming seems to have been completely sufficient and then some. For the super negative people out there - people should evaluate what they want and get it. Once again, if this were my daily commuter, this wouldn't have been my choice. But for my fun truck that can still be useful for more than crawling, no regrets so far.
