Hey everyone. New to the truck game. I’m about to order an F150 with the 5.0L on Tuesday and am trying to decide on what gearing to go with. I don’t plan on towing much. As far as performance goes, how much of a difference will the 3.73 gears make? How much of a hit will there be in terms of gas mileage? I mostly do “city” driving with some 1000 mile road trips.

Once you breach the halfway point on hiway you might be interested in 3.31

I chose 3.31 because 95+% is hiway or unencumbered
As often as I tow or get heavily loaded, I am fine with working the truck a bit harder than I would with steeper gears.

Besides, I have the old truck to do the real heavy lifting if necesssary
