OK - Maybe this is a dumb question on my part, but did you recalibrate the speedometer after switching to the 34's?

As I understand it, the truck is actually counting revolutions and translating that to distance. If it thinks you have 33" tires but you now have 34" tires, it will calculate fewer miles than you've actually driven. Therefore, the truck will display ~3% worse miles/gallon than you are actually getting. The heavier mass of the bigger wheels and the worse aerodynamics from the lift are bigger factors.
Havent done a recalibration yet, but this did cross my mind as a possibility.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I don’t believe that anyone on thisForum has recalibrated as yet. Please keep us posted if and when you do. Thanks!

For the math, an easy way to do this is find the distance traveled per revolution of your old tires (or rotations of tire per mile), and the same for the new, and calculate the difference as a percentage (ie your new ones travel 1.03 times the distance as your old ones. You can find those numbers online. Multiply that by your odometer reading at fill up. I do that every time for my lifted ‘Runner at fill-up. Good luck!

First off let me say that I love my 21 xlt with the 302a package. It has the 3.5 eco and the power is excellent just waiting for 5 star to come out with a 91 tow and adaptive tune to get another 50hp. I am going to install the cvf intercooler out of my 17 today so I hope nothing underneath has changed. My last truck was a 17xl with 3.5 and 10 speed. Both trucks have 6.5 bed, max tow, and 3.55 gears. With my 17 and 5 star 91 tow tune I was averaging 17-18 with 305/55/20 tires and 1.5" leveling kit. I put those tires on the 21 with a 2" leveling kit and I am averaging 15 so its definitely not as well. Of course as it breaks in it will get better but I still would not go back, the 21 is so much more refined.

I’m curious to see if the Tremor mileage is any better than leveling with bigger tires after purchase.

can you explain your last tune more? was it a 4x4 and did you go from 15 to 17-18 after the tune or was your last truck always 17-18mpg

Yes the truck was a 4x4. The tune was a 5 star 91 tow tune and it did not seem to affect mileage much at all but the added power and better transmission shift were very worth it. The 10 speed in the 21 shifts so much better than my 17 it's not even a comparison. Stock for stock the 21 definitely runs better also. This 21 is an awesome truck.

Ok just turned 1,000 miles yesterday and dash board says 18.6 mpg. Mix of local and highway driving in city with traffic and extended idle times. I think I will reset it and see what happens. Not as good as I was hoping for but far better than my 2009 V8. I did "baby" it for the 600 or so miles.

Just finished a road trip from SF to Bend, OR and back. Averaged 18 MPG on the trip north and 21 MPG on the trip south. Going north was a lot more climbing. I used eco mode quite a bit on this trip, but didn't notice much of a difference in comparison to previous road trips.

I'm avg 14.8mpg. i don't know what fuel the dealership filled it up with. I only have driven 150 miles with average speed of 40 mph all stop and go and drive pretty aggressive. I'm on 295/60-20 Nitto RG, crew cab 4x4, max tow w/ 3.55 gears. Its been cold here in the Midwest.

Hi All,
I just reached 1,000 miles in 3 weeks and I am averaging 16.7mpg with 50/50 Local/Hwy.
(Lariat SC 6 1/2 bed, 3.5 ECO with the 3.31 Non-limited axle, 4x4 on 275/65R18)

I have been very cautious with the Peddle and trying not to use too much boost. (But that passing gear:p) I was hoping with the 3.31 gearing, I would at least get 18/20mpg.
Maybe the next 1,000 miles she will get better but for now, I am not liking 16.7

I'm at ~750 miles on my 2021 F-150 Lariat. I've been extremely disappointed in the MPG. Sticker was 18 city, 23 highway on the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost. I averaged 12.6 for the first 500 miles. I then put 295/60/R20s and the leveling kit and the MPG dropped to 12.3. I understand the drop with the tires and kit... but ~12 MPG when the sticker says 18 MPG is pretty upsetting. I even wrote the dealership and asked if others were complaining. Not even close to Ford's claim. Even at 15 MPG, I would understand.

This is my 3rd ecoboost and I knew what I was going to get as far as mileage goes. I buy the ecoboost because the power is fantastic and they pull amazing.
