After the first 1,000 miles local, hwy and city rush hour traffic on hwy 18 to 19. I use regular gas, have the 20" tire option on short bed Lariat driving in "normal" mode but I do have a heavy foot.

I would have expected better from the v6
I have a v8, 4x4, 3.31, 8ft box SuperCab.
Just under 1000mi and have a lifetime avg of 18.9
About half at around 75/80, and the other half 35-50.
Little city traffic, mostly rural

Have about 2100 miles on now. Averaging around 18. Took it on a 400 mile round trip this weekend and on the way set cruise at 70 and got a little over 22. Coming back though in a straight line wind was a different story - averaged 15.6.

My last truck was a 2014 STEEL Bodied F150.
Sticker showed 21 for HWY
3.5 eco
Max trailer Tow mirrors
3.73 Gears
6 speed Transmission
Factory OE Goodyear 18" Tires 32" ?

NOW, My 2021 ALUMINUM Bodied F150
Sticker showed 23 for HWY
3.5 Eco
Regular mirrors
3.55 Gears
10 speed Transmission
Factory OE Hankook 20" Tires 33"

MY NEW TRUCK with 3,000 miles, gets WORSE HWY Mileage as a new truck THAN my 2014 got when it was NEW.
2014 could get 22 on highway consistently.

What gives?
How is 23 mpg hwy worse than 21 hwy? Sounds like fuzzy math.

Edit: I just noticed this wasn't under the Powerboost section.
295/70R18, 3:73 Gears and my gauge still shows 23 MPG. Disclaimer, my MPG is actually better then what's shown given the roughly 8.6% larger tire diameter. This is running premium gas. If I run the cheap stuff it knocks off about 3 MPG. I'm in the process of getting a real MPG by calculating it myself.

I did a 30 minute super flat highway drive the other day in eco mode with the lightest foot possible... I was showing an avg of 27.5 mpg based on the computer. xlt 302a fx4 3.5 eb 3.55 rear with 87 octane... I was driving about 60 mph. I have no idea how accurate it was but even if it was 10-20% off I'd still be getting 22-25 mpg. I don't know if this is even possible but I plan on trying this again with a full tank of 93 and filling up when I get off the freeway to calculate.

Normal driving is a different story. I have about 650 miles on my truck and I'm averaging about 18 mostly city driving. I've been very mindful of my driving habits to get that number. If I'm playing with it AT ALL the number drops super fast.

I have seen several posts with similar mpgs on highway driving with the 3.5 in other gen 14 groups, so who knows....

I am not real sure about my mpg; however, today I filled up. Gauge said I had 505 miles to empty. I AM MAKING GASOLINE!!! About every 5-6 miles the gauge changes to a higher mileage to empty, the more I drive the greater my range before empty!! Started with 505 miles, drove about 30-40 miles and now the gauge says I have 510 miles to empty!! Not really how these electronics are computing this. A few more miles and my fuel tank will over flow!!🤪🤪🤪

I’ve noticed a 2+ mpg decrease with the 35 12.5s as well. In hindsight I would have opted for the 3.71s
3.5 max tow 3.55

Are those other similar MPGs from other posts using premium as well? I wonder if the 3MPG increase by using premium pays for itself. I guess if it breaks even you're at least putting "cleaner" gas in your car
