A friend of my wanted to order a 3.0 diesel like my after he saw my. I checked with my dealer at that time and my friend was about a week and a half late to get his order in. Like I've said before on this form..." That Ford is making a big mistake not continuing the 3.0 diesel in it's line up". Long live the 3.0 diesel!!

Sometimes I wish I would of gotten the 3.0 PS over the PB… but I guess now push come to shove, I can move to the baby duramax ??‍♂ Specially with GM redesigned interior!

Between the cam phasers in the 3.5EB and the oil consumption problems in the 5.0 I'd say the 3.0L is the best engine you can get in the F-150. I have two in my fleet with over 120,000 miles, both are emissions deleted with no issues since. I think the one pilot truck is getting up close to that 200,000 mile range and has only ever had a DPF/EGR delete and timing belt replaced. Emissions breakdowns on diesels are a matter of when, not if. So it's not just a 3.0L problem.

2.7 is the best gas engine in the F-150 but unfortunately it's limited to the useless (IMO) 5'5" bed and limited towing/payload/gvwr capacity.

Right - the 3.0 is prone to issues - such as: the North America dealers can't get 'em.

The 3.0 sells very well in Europe, and AFAIK is very reliable.

I have a 3.0 diesel in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was made by Daimler, and it's a very powerful little engine.

For my F-150, I selected the Powerboost over the diesel (to appease my wife, mostly) and I don't regret it. The Powerboost has a very "diesel-like" feel when driving it, and it's quieter. I got the 7.2 ProPower option - I hope you requested it as well
Hey Tosh - thanks for your reply. I did opt for the 7.2kW PP option. I’m not seeing any ’major’ mechanical issues with the 3.0 PS, as my local dealership is reporting. What I AM finding is that those 3.0 PS that are around are marked up at least $5k above MSRP and the dealerships are holding tight on their pricing.

I was planning to buy a 21 F150 3.0

I test drove 3 Supercrews and really liked them. They are powerful and some guys are reporting 24 MPG all day long mixed driving. The possibility of 30 MPG is there with all highway driving depending on conditions. The issue that I had was March 21 there was only one 21 Supercab XLT 6.5 bed 3.0 in the whole country. White 21 XL 3.0s were a dime a dozen.

I wound up with a 21 Lariat Supercab 3.5 eco.
