Got a email from my Ford dealer about the 2023 F150 and one of the engines available for 2023 will
be a 3.0 diesel. Anyone know anything about this? I never thought that Ford should discontinue the 3.0
diesel as the other two competitors still have a diesel in their half ton pickup line.

This is what it said:

2023 Ford F-150 Horsepower
Ford's latest F-150 pickup truck comes with five engine choices. Available in the 3.0-liter diesel V-6 producing 250 horsepower. The base model has a 3.3-liter V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower. The next step up is an EcoBoost 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 engine with 325 horsepower. Finally, a 3.5-liter V6 turbocharged engine delivers 400 horsepower for even more power. Ford also offers a 5.0-liter V8 engine with 400 horsepower. All of the engines are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. The different engines offer a variety of capabilities, from hauling payloads to towing trailers. No matter your needs, there's an F-150 engine that's up to the task.

Where is the powerboost. Think this is old with new heading. But I could be wrong.

I’ve read 3 articles now about the return of the 3.0L PS! It’s coming back but not changing from the 21MY.

I’m not certain the diesel was discontinued due to lack of interest.
I am of the belief it was “lack of availability“ from the vendor.
21 diesels are few and far between and if I recall it was discontinued toward the end of model year production.
The Covid disrupted so many things and if you were not scheduled by mid Feb 21, you weren’t getting one.
My pickup was built end of Jan and delivered first part of Feb. and was scheduled on the very first day of retail scheduling (Dec. 1, 20) and at that time I think the only restrictions was the snow plow prep package, and the full recline seats.
(I did not get the diesel)
all the craziness began at the end of Feb 21 and is continuing to this day.

Official announcement

INFORMATION:
Final Retail Orders For 21MY F-150 w/ 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel Due July 16

ACTION REQUESTED:
Please submit any remaining retail orders for 21MY F-150 with 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel by July 16th, 2021

SUMMARY:
Due to the global semiconductor shortage and to maximize production to meet customer demand, 21MY F-150 will be accepting final retail orders for the 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel engine through July 16, 2021.

Customers are overwhelmingly selecting our EcoBoost V6 gasoline engines and the all-new 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid engine, which is why we are removing this option from our lineup.
I agree with the idea that it's just recycled old copy.

I have a difficult time believing that 3.0 Powerstroke diesel will be returning to the F150 anytime in the near future. The take rate was low and it seemed like most dealers didn't understand or have the confidence to promote the engine to potential buyers.

Also, Ford executives have made it clear that the future is electric (whether we like it or not) so that's where the lions share of their development budget is going.

The 3.0 Powerstroke was an excellent engine for a select few that saw the value/benefits of owning one.

IMO, Ford also hamstrung the little diesel by only allowing it for certain configurations.

It’s like they never really wanted anyone to get it as an option and only had it so that they could say they had a diesel.
