Not sure how you guys are doing it, but I get very little miles on EV.. See my image.

If that’s all the MPG I could expect out of the PB, I’ll regret that I traded in my 5.0.

According to your trip, you're averaging around 18 MPH, yet only have 6.73% on full electric. I'd look at driving with the EV Coach screen on and learning how to get the truck into full electric more often. Just driving with a constant pedal doesn't seem to work for me. I think on my last check, I'm averaging around 16% on full electric on my first tank. The best I've seen is 46% electric on a 4.8 mile trip this morning. Speeds above 48ish seem to require the gas engine on at all times, unless coasting or braking. Normally what I do is get up to speed or a bit more than I need, say 40 in a 35, then let of the throttle and let the engine shut off, then drive under full electric for a bit until the battery is depleted. It's really a fine line on the throttle to maintain full electric, which seems to work best in the 25-40 MPH range. Accelerating under full electric is the hardest for me, but maintaining speed once in full electric is pretty easy on level ground. Without the EV coach, it is hard to get to know the truck and how the hybrid system works IMO.

Something is off here... IN A GOOD WAY!

Got the truck with 14 miles and a full tank.
Odometer currently reads 312 So that’s 298 miles in (call it 300) and the trip gauge is calculating 17.4mpg but I still have more than half a tank of fuel left to go??? Some math tells me I’m doing better than 20mpg and if I guess that tank gauge at about 17 or 18 gallons that puts me at 23-25mpg this far! So I’m thinking that This will get better... way better! Disappointed that the computer is so far off but I won’t judge until I can calc it at the pump.

Every heard of the term lead foot?? :ROFLMAO:

It takes some time to figure how to get the most out of the system. Having owned several hybrids in the past has helped me a great deal.

You have to learn to coast when you see a red light, use light breaking not heavy if you can, cruse control helps. It will come, just read up on it some and how it works.

That is not how it works. You have to fill the tank back up and see the actual gallons used to actual mileage driven. You can never estimate by the fuel gauge.

Dan M.
You would base you purchase of a engine system by the MPGs of one person and someone you don't even know how they are driving?? If so take one of my last 3

Not trying to be harsh, just real with you.

I don’t disagree. It’s just an observation I was making 300 miles into a tank and took a wild guess at consumption vs mileage vs trip computer. That’s why I said I will hold off until I can calc it at the pump. In any case, I’m thinking This first tank is a toss out for me and can’t use it as a gauge of what’s to come since I’ve got hours of idling while playing around with settings in the mix as well as long warm ups for defrosting from non stop snow storms the past two weeks.

Yeah, you right. Winter time is alway worse too and if you have a lot of short trips, they kill MPGs.

I'm only getting 15-16 mpg... granted I did upsize the wheels and tires. But man I didn't think it would affect it that much

It does, I knew a guy that did the same thing and killed his averages but his was not a Gen14.

I know that good fuel economy can easily be achieved and it’s not hard at all. I’ve always done better than EPA ratings and it’s not hard to do. I’m just shocked that someone with a 3.5 Hybrid can only achieve 15 mpg. Either there’s a problem With the engine or driving technique.

I know, I just didn't want you to think you cannot achieve the EPA ratings based on what one person has stated because you can with reasonable effort.

Does anyone else notice that the generator kicks on by itself when you start up? Mine shows a 20W draw. I'm not sure if this is typical or something unusual? It's almost like it's recharging the batteries?

Here’s my first (almost) 100 mile experience. Exclusively suburban driving so far, with a decent amount of rolling hills on my daily commute that do support lots of coasting. About 5 miles and a decent amount of idle time were by the dealer before delivery which I am sure is impacting MPG.

I’m more than pleased with an electric miles percentage of 47%.

Does the percentage of Electric miles not factor into Trip MPG?
