2023 has a new style wireless charger. Has a fan on the back. Blows air to the back side of the phone I believe. May pull air but I’m not too sure. I just know there is a fan and the holes are to move air. I was going to upgrade my 21 to the 23 but they are on indefinite back order
I don't think there is any airflow or at least not enough to make a difference on the backside of the phone on mine. Phone is always excessively warm after any time charging in there.

I have a couple of wireless chargers from Samsung that do have fans that do an excellent job keeping the phone cool even when fast wireless charging.

That may be. I just know from what I see looking at it.

2023 ordered October 2022, picked up Jan 31, 2023. Info is in the order tracking thread.

There may or may not be a fan on the backside of the module but there is no provision for cooling a phone that is charging on the pad.

That has a fan on the back side. It is not for cooling the phone but the charger. The charger itself creates a lot of heat.

Yep- this is what the backside of the '23 charger looks like:

If you can hear the fan you will want to pop the charger off with a trim stick, remove the tear tape and move the harness out of the fans way. They should be silent.
Hey BAPP702, I just acquired the charger with the fan and holes and was planning to make the swap in my 22 Platinum but came across your post and was curious: are you saying you could just pop the charger from the top side of the media bin with a trim stick tool? Because that would be great as I had everything opened up earlier today to do some other work and could not figure out how to gain access to the media bin to change that part out. Trying to avoid having to open it up any more than I have to, but if it’s necessary to get this done I’ll concede. 🤣 Thanks!

If you have a 22 it is different. Yours bolts in from the backside. 23 has a different attachment. I have the part number now but I can't find the service part number.

Got it opened up just a little bit ago and realizing that the bracket is not a match 😒 so here I sit debating on if I retrofit something or attempt to spend the time digging for whatever parts I should have included to mount this new wireless charger.

I don't use mine in my '23. It's too much of a hassle since it seems like I have to have the phone laying in a particular spot or it want charge. May have something to do with the otterbox cover. It's easier/quicker to just hook the charging cable up.

If you can pop the charger out with a trim tool, does the entire slanted piece come out or does it leave a voided area (hole) in the space the pad is? Would like to remove mine for more usable storage.

If I can't remove the entire charging pad, is there anything in particular that cannot lay on the charger that would cause it to short out or overheat?
