22 5.0 No acceleration

While driving down the interstate I went to pass and truck downshifted like normal. Engine rpm went up but just held and did not pick up speed with no power. Drives normal around town. See video
22 XLT 5.0, leveled on 35”s, muffler delete only

Glad you figured that out. It may have been dumb, but it's way better than a transmission issue 😉

That would have been an a$$ clenching WTF moment for me, too.

Curious, how did you diagnose it as air box related?

It only happened on hard acceleration and trans seemed solid. Just no power and felt like it was fighting itself. Decided to look at the airbox first and seen the intake boot when I popped the hood.

Good catch.

The static RPM limit sort of mimicked valve float I've seen in older performance engines. Can't (enough air in combustion chamber) or blocked exhaust (can't get enough air out). If it was the trans, I'd Exoect the RPMs to keep climbing with no shifting.
