My KR scheduled production week has changed three times since order was placed, September 3rd.
My dealer and the Ford chat line can not tell me why.
Wondering what everyone’s experience may have been and reasons for delays.

I ordered a 2025 King Ranch on Aug 28th, but haven't received a VIN or a scheduled production week.

As far as I know, you are the first person to say they've received a scheduled production week for a 2025.

Thanks. We have a 2025 Platinum that we ordered 8/30 with no updates at all.

From this post regarding scheduling for Nov 25th, SIMS orders were created (which I take to mean you probably never should have been scheduled yet as a customer order).

https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/thr...eek-10-10-24-for-production-week-11-25.28776/

My guess is that the Dearborn plant continues to work through QC issues on SIMS orders and that's why your date keeps getting pushed back a week at a time.

For what it's worth, here is chatGPT's explanation for what SIMS orders are and how it relates to customer orders (like yours and mine).....

------------------------

SIMS orders refer to Special Item Management System orders. In Ford’s production and ordering process, SIMS orders typically serve as placeholders or internal test orders that help manage and prioritize production logistics for a new model year. Here's a more detailed explanation of what SIMS orders represent:
Key Characteristics of SIMS Orders:
  1. Internal and Dealer Test Orders:
    • SIMS orders are often used by Ford and its dealers to simulate or pre-load vehicle configurations into the system. These orders do not usually correspond to specific customer orders but instead serve internal needs, such as testing new configurations, determining production allocations, or managing dealer stock.
  2. Initial Scheduling for Production:
    • When a new model year starts, Ford typically schedules SIMS orders first, prior to mass-producing customer-ordered vehicles. These orders help ensure that the production line is running smoothly and that any potential issues with the assembly or logistics process are identified early.
  3. Dealer Stock Units:
    • SIMS orders can also be used to manage dealer stock units. These are vehicles produced not for a specific customer but for dealer inventory. Dealers use these units to showcase the latest model year to customers, offering them a chance to see, test drive, and purchase the vehicles directly from the lot without having to wait for a custom build.
  4. Role in "Early Build" or "Job 1":
    • SIMS orders are part of the early production runs (often called "Job 1" or "Early Build"), where Ford starts building vehicles with new model year configurations. These orders help to assess the quality of the manufacturing process and ensure that everything is running correctly before large-scale customer production begins. SIMS units can also include builds with new options, features, or trims that require testing on the production line.
  5. Dealer Allocation:
    • In some cases, SIMS orders are tied to dealer allocations, meaning certain configurations of the vehicle (like specific trims or engine options) are produced based on what Ford determines each dealer needs or will be able to sell. These are still not tied to any specific customer orders but are instead distributed to dealerships to meet anticipated demand.
Why SIMS Orders Matter:
  • Quality Assurance: They allow Ford to check production readiness for the new model year and ensure that any issues or defects are caught early before customer orders are produced.
  • Dealer Availability: They ensure that dealerships have inventory on hand to display and sell as soon as the new model year vehicles hit the market.
  • Production Prioritization: SIMS orders help Ford prioritize early production units for testing and refinement before moving into larger-scale customer production.
Relevance to You:
If you have ordered a 2025 Ford F-150, these SIMS orders do not directly impact your specific order, but they are a critical step in Ford's preparation for building and delivering vehicles, including customer-ordered units like yours. Once the initial SIMS and dealer stock orders are completed and any early production issues are resolved, Ford will proceed to schedule customer factory orders, including yours.

Thanks for the information on the SIMS.
Would have been nice of Ford or the dealership to communicate this to us.

Can't speak for the '25MY. However, I ordered a '24MY KR a couple of days after the order banks opened. Had my build ship dates moved more than once. Ordered in SEP, key in hand in JUN.

I will caveat I have HUD, Smart Scales, and PAT and did not elect to have them removed, delaying the process from my end.

Nine months!
it would go a long way if Ford could give us realistic timelines After all, spending in excess of $70 grand is not chicken feed.

Many of us have had the "9 month + wait" experience. Ford Motor Company clearly doesn't give a s**t!

This "SIMs Order" process is a demonstration of a large organization that has lost control. I can understand this process when a model has significant changes or a completely new model is introduced.

But there is no significant difference between the 2024 F-150 and 2025 F-150. Why would you go through all this to validate what you have been doing a year before the model year change over?

Did you order the package with the HUD? If so, I understand that's a "Job 2" option only.

Ordered my 25 KR the day order banks opened. With priority 10. No updates from ford. I would imagine nothing will be handed to customer until more concrete dates and production times. As you can see if you push for information they will give you estimates but nothing set for 25 yet. I agree that is a bit concerning so much testing, trials etc are needed for a process that should be second nature. At the end of the day each truck is only as good as the least motivated line worker that day.
Update. As of Monday, 21st. My 25 KR order has not been scheduled.

I just used the Ford online chat and I do have a VIN. At the moment, it is showing me a scheduled production of the week of 11/25 (with last update date of 10/10).

I'm sure that date will get pushed out - just sharing what I found out for my order.
