In Sep 2024 I picked up a 2024 STX 4x4 in Avalanche to replace my 2018 Raptor. I was bored with the Raptor and wanted to start from a base truck and enjoy modifying it.
I got the 2.7 because I knew I could never resist adding the supercharger to the 5.0 and I was over the issues I had experienced with the 3.5 in the Raptor.
The only real option the truck has is the rear locker and 3.55 gears. I needed the tow haul features so the dealer gave me a "we owe" on the OEM in dash trailer brake controller...still waiting
Here it is day one:
Scavenged as many parts off my Raptor as I could...floor mats, tonneau cover, running boards, rear under seat storage, lots of stuff!
Immediately ordered an XLT heated and leather steering wheel with my Ford points! Great upgrade and super easy. I still have to order the clock spring to get the heated function to work but the leather really takes a ton of the "cheap" feel out of the interior.
Added a 2" Rough Country leveling kit. It sits a bit higher than I'd like and this is likely due to the 2.7 engine being lighter than the other options.
Did a ton of research on here about tire fitment and went with a Maxxis Razr AT in 295-60-20 or roughly a 34" tall by 11.50" wide (an inch over the stock tires in both measurements). I chose these for price and knowing I would eventually swap to a smaller diameter rim. Only very minor rubbing on the inner fender liners at full lock...no other issues.
Next up was getting rid of the yellow STX side vents....merica!
