Is it possible to cut it into three pieces to make a three-piece appliqué for a King Ranch with PAT? I noticed the tailgate panels are different, and it seems a bit challenging.

Based on his build thread (elsewhere in the forum), you'd have some serious camouflaging to do when you cut the panel.

I guess anything is possible but highly think that it would not work out or look very good. It would have to be a very specialty shop that would have to try to fabricate it.

I'm curious to know how he installed it with all of the pins, etc. on the backside.
He shaved all the pins off and any high spots and then used the strongest 3 m tape. It fits tight and and fits up right against the panel.

Just so everyone knows since Ford would not let you add the chrome package to the 2024 King Ranch i took it into my hands and added the chrome package myself. First i ordered the mirror skull caps from Ford and had them replace the painted ones. Got really nice snap on chrome door handles. But then the most important item was the tailgate applique that i orderd through ford parts for a 2023 King Ranch and had my friend who owns his bodyshop install it and it looks great and just a Big Shout Out To Travis from The Collision Center for making my King Ranch compelete. It just sets the whole Truck Off and i Believe making lt look really sharp.

Where did you get the appliqué from? I’m looking at doing the same thing

Unlikely if it's actual chrome--you'll have whatever got chromed underneath, and showing at the edge.

I suppose you could take it to a shop to be rechromed, like when restoring a classic, but that is insanely expensive.

A couple of years ago, driven by those prices and curiosity, I investigated whether or not you could chrome at home. Aside from the legality, it comes to, "it depends upon how you feel about your neighbors dying of the fumes."

relatively straightforward process for the technically inclined, but insanely nasty fumes.

but, overall, chrome 🤤 🤤 🤤

Do you think it’s the same for the Platinum as far as putting the 23 appliqué on the 24?

It would be a different part no but yes other wise it should be the same as far the backing goes with all the clips. Again they all have to be removed along with any other screws and hard plastic rods and smooth out to fit flat agaisnt tailgate.

I think it would not work at all.Plus tailgate isnt flat like the reguler tailgate as from what i see the pro acess tailgate has a rasied center.

The appliqué is not chrome. It’s aluminum. It would need to be cut with an abrasive wheel and deburred. You could not cut with shears as it would deform the metal. Likely, cutting through the letters would distort the appearance of the wording and be annoying. Not to mention needing to cut twice at each location to remove 1/4” to match the PATS gap.
