I've been busy with the '24 lately ever since I sold the '08. Bought the '24 back in July and just sold the '08 in Feb. which I had since new.

In the first 1,000 miles, the '24 got:

• Line-X Bedliner
• Front windows tinted to match
• Flowmaster Original 40 Series with resonator delete and turndown

Second round started a couple weeks ago:

• Backseat divider and hammock for the dog
• Backrack SRL headache rack
• Cross over toolbox
• Rear facing LED pod floodlights on the headache rack
• Replaced all incandescent bulbs with LEDs
• Front and rear marker lights
• Mammoth 2.5" leveling kit
• Bed side MOLLE panels
• N-Fab bullbar
• Front facing LED pod & bar driving lights on bull bar

Nice truck! As a fellow 11th gen owner and also a 2024 XL owner.... What are your thoughts on the XL coming from the 11th gen? I absolutely love my XL and it blows my '04 XLT out of the water with amenities for the most part. I really am impressed with the new trucks... I was very hesitant on some of the features but the 5.0 and the 10R80 seem to be very well ironed out at this point.

Truck looks great so far!

Very nice! That's definitely practical and functional looking truck.

I know I was pretty much blown away going from a 2011 to the 2024 in terms of standard features and tech. The 12th gen body and interior are closer to the 11th gen than the subsequent ones but even going from a Gen 1 Ecoboost to a Gen 3 was still a major difference, not even considering the PowerBoost.

Looks absolutely fabulous, I really like the dog area, where did you get the dog hammock and cage? My King Ranch is on rail and I have a Sheltie, I would love to have the same setup for my dog.

Thanks guys. Loving the 5.0L and 10 speed, especially with the cat back exhaust. I drive in sport mode all the time to disable the unwanted auto start/stop and cylinder deactivation. It also makes it very responsive and really makes the pipes ring.

I do miss my '08, though. It was only an STX trim with the gutless but reliable 4.6L V8. It has been nickle and diming me though and it didn't make sense to have 2 trucks in the end. Guess that happens with 215,000 miles and all original major components.

Regarding the dog stuff:

Amazon Basics Adjustable Dog Car Barrier - I extended the center section down using the divider that comes with the welded wire dog crates. Worked perfectly.
Ruff Liners Crew Cab Size Floor Cover - More than I wanted to spend, but should be pretty seamless - Door covers that still allow you to open and close the door & window - Can fold down one or both seat sides to use as a seat without completely removing the cover.

Thanks, funny you mention the 4.6 (floor 6 as I call it) i have an old 06 Lincoln Town Car as my daily driver, I just love that car, I float everywhere I go, it's so heavy I got to sling shot people to pass them.

I will order the dog armor today, as my truck is about a month away.

Couple small updates from Sunday's work:

Mounted a shovel to a MOLLE panel and sand boards to the toolbox. Unfortunately I couldn't see a way to mount the boards to a bed side MOLLE panel without blocking the boxlink cleat or storage cubby.

Also put d-ring shackles on the new bull bar. Gotta love Amazon one-day shipping.

The rear marker light that I previously installed also had white LEDs between the 3 red marker LEDs for reverse lights. I wanted to splice them in to the reverse power wire but realized the reverse light is powered through the BLIS, so I didn't want to mess with that. So I just connected it to my switched rear flood light harness.

Looking awesome! You might be surprised to find that when you use the truck in Normal mode the fuel economy may improve significantly. The cylinder deactivation on these trucks is not the same as the troublesome systems used on push rod motors like with GM and Ram but you might notice a different exhaust tone with an aftermarket exhaust.

I just push the disable auto start stop button each time I start the truck but you could try this too.

Which bed side molle panels did you use? I've been looking at the Builtright panels, but the price is a little more than I'd like to spend.

Just cheapo SZYANG MOLLEs from Amazon. I really wanted the Built Right ones, but couldn't stomach the price point. The Built Right ones do appear to be much better quality in how they mount though (integrated mounting bracket vs. just bolt spacers with the ones I chose).
