I thought about waiting for 2024, but ended up buying a 2023.

I grew up on Ford - my first car was a 2015 Ford Focus, and my second car was a 2017 Ford Escape. Both were first year refreshes. At work I drove Crown Victorias, Tauruses, Explorers before landing on my current... *sigh* Tahoe.

The Fords that never gave up on me were all proven designs. 2017 Explorers, 2011 Crown Victorias, 2015 Tauruses, you name it. The Fords that gave me the most grief were the refresh or new cars. The Escape and Focus were always in the shop, and the new 2020 Explorer I had at work lasted two months before I blew up the engine and left bits and pieces down the highway.

So while I'll always appreciate the new and shiny (and salute those willing to take the risk), a more mature side of me recognizes the value of proven reliability and buying the third year of a redesign.

It's likely just cosmetic tweaks to keep the truck's design "fresh". However, I doubt that Ford would make changes to the engines or anything major. I know they're copying GM with the bumper steps, but many of the GM truck owners like the feature, so Ford is simply following suit.

Based on the pics above, it looks to be just a slight grill change, and maybe something slight to the tailgate. Think 15-17 vs 18-20. These spy photos seem to indicate even less changes than that (18's got new headlights).

I keep my rides to about 15 year mark before selling and upgrading. This is the first vehicle I'm buying factory new. I was hoping to celebrate it by driving the newest model for at least 3-4 years, oh well...

Yea, most mfgs will refresh vehicles after 3 years, which is usually just hang on parts and maybe a couple of small interior pieces, and they redesign every 6-ish years. With rapid prototyping and 3D printers being readily available, it makes refreshes and redesigns a lot more cost effective. At one point I think KIA was trying to refresh every 1.5 years but I don’t think that’ll happen

Those model years had big changes. I’m hoping it’s a much smaller update. Hell, I just got used to this design lmfao.

I don’t think Ford’s built enough trucks during the last few years to deserve a refresh. It’s like eating your desert before you finished your peas!

The F150 is probably getting the new Superduty grill
The new Superduty should have taken its cues from F-150 and not the new Maverick and a 2014 Silverado.
