The PowerBoost with the 7.2Kw generator is great for travel trailers. Unfortunately, configuring one with enough residual payload has always been a challenge. Platinum and Limited buyers have been alarmed that their expensive trucks were especially payload limited for towing. I managed a 2WD PB KR with 1800# payload (1787# sticker, 1850# scales).
2024 PB only comes in 4x4.
Buyer beware, a very base XLT and maybe Lariat will have a payload of around 1400#, maybe close to 1500#. The King Ranch and Platinum are both loaded with options- sunroof, bed utility, power running boards, etc. Expect a sub 1400# payload.
Just avoid the bed utility package and any sort of bed cover or protection and FX4, as well as the sunroof and payload should be close to 1600lbs.

Yep. Sucks for us super crew 6.5" bed folk. The loss of the Sport Appearance pkg is enough to make me look elsewhere. Hopefully that changes by the time the Gen 15 rolls around which is when I'd be due to replace this truck.

Or... you gotta go Platinum to get body color bumper with a supercrew 6.5" and give up payload vs an XLT.
Agreed. Maybe it’s just a mistake on the build and price tool though. No good reason why the bed length should change BAP availability.

I don't believe it's a mistake. BAP has never been available on 157"

Just built my 2022 XLT. While ugly was included at no extra cost, the final price was like 7k more than I paid and I couldn't spec the tow package or tow mirrors with this. Also don't think I could spec foldable lockable storage.

MSRP on my truck was 62, bought for 56, 2024 was specd close as possible for 67.

Anyone else think they’re combing options and packages to make the price increases harder to see?

I think it will make the market share drop easy to see.

Looks to me that they are packaging to limit major options per model.
Maybe they will get back to Henry Ford’s “you can have any color you want, as long as it is black”, efficiency.

No -- They just combined some of the more popular options. They do know after all how every single truck was built. They rolled the mach-e into virtually no factory options. There's maybe 3 choices outside of trim.

A lot of the packages make a lot of sense. The fact they've removed blue cruise 3yr from mandatory is great.

Seems obvious that XLT, XL and STX trims went up and KR, Plat went down for similarly optioned trucks. Not sure about Lariat. It seems like if you load up on options you save $ since they've bundled so many together. If you were one who picked just a few options or base models, the cost is definitely more. Like I said, my truck optioned as close as I could went down $4.5k (actually it has more since the moonroof is standard now and I can get a free PB).

Looks like if you want a regular cab it will be an xl only.
And 5.0 w3.73 locker only. That makes it easy.

But no Fx4 or STX packages.

They made STX a model

Man, you are correct. What a crazy bummer.

I mean, I wasn't ready to jump on ordering a 2024 F150 anyway. But the only one I would consider is another 157" wb 302a like I have now - can't live with the short bed or tight cab. And can't live with less features (like no heated seats, etc) and can't afford a Lariat or above. So if you are telling me that the only XLT 157" trucks now will be these hideous front grilles, mis-matched chrome-bumper abominations.... well, it's a real bummer.

Maybe I'll be able to afford a lightly used Lariat someday. Edit: Lariat is also chrome only in 157wb. hard pass.

Yep. And King Ranch is 2 tone only. So looks like Platinum is the only way to get body colored bumpers. Or get an XLT and have the alll the chrome wrapped body color? Seems like that would be a pain in the butt though.

The deletes will only get worse, Ford is checking out of the ICE business. They are done putting any real effort into this ICE model like they have in years passed. Unfortunately it will only get less customizable every refresh/gen. I’d bet 15th gen is the last ICE model anyway.

Not sure what part about CAFE standards having to be met else they're fined that you're missing. This isn't unique to ford, all of them are doing this. A 25% fuel economy increase going from 21 to 26 model years. Have you not been paying attention to the push towards larger vehicles due to the asinine calculation?

No way will 15th gen be last ICE model. The lightning, or any other electric pickup truck will never, I repeat NEVER be able to conveniently tow a camper on your family vacation. Not unless you want to stop every 100 miles for a 1-2 hour break, at charging stations that don't exist yet, and still pay $80+ to "refuel".

The automakers rapid switch and huge investment into BEVs is driven by governmental intervention right now (ICE bans post 2035, etc), and not consumer demand. These mandates will be rolled back once reality sets in for our politicians who don't understand basic physics.
