I want the 360 camera package, but it requires the tow package - $1300+, and the 360 camera package is 700+. What the heck Ford!!!

Just FYI, the prerequisites for the stand-alone 360-degree camera package (option code 763) have been exactly the same for each trim level at which it's available since 2021 model year, the start of the Gen 14 F-150, through 2023 model year.

You may not like it but it's nothing new, you play Ford's game or do without, simple as that (.... you can't always get what you want ...)

i thought the 2022, it came with the tech tow package. At least on the builder online, i don't recall it requiring anything additional.

Ah, then your gripe is with 2023 elimination of the former Tow Technology Package (option code 17T), not the still-available stand-alone 360-degree cam package (option code 763).

17T had other prerequisites depending on trim level. What trim level are you building (XL, XLT, Lariat, etc)?

FYI from 2022 Order Guide (a resource always more definitive than retail website build-and-price):
TOW TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE (17T)
Availability:
• Opt XL (101A), XLT, Lariat, King Ranch®, Platinum (700A), Tremor (400A/401A), Raptor™ (800A/included in Convienece Pkg (18V)); incl Platinum (701A), Tremor (402A), Raptor™ (801A/included in Convienece Pkg (18V))
Not available with:
• Trailer Tow Pkg (53A) or Max Trailer Tow Pkg (53C) on XLT, Lariat & King Ranch® & Platinum
Requires:
• Class IV Trailer Hitch (53B) on XLT, Lariat King Ranch® & Platinum
• Class IV Trailer Hitch (53B), Trailer Tow Package (53A) or Max Trailer Tow Package (53C) and Ford Co-Pilot360™ 2.0 on XL (101A only) & Tremor (400A only)
Includes:
• Pro Trailer Backup Assist
• 360-Degree Camera
• Trailer Reverse Guidance
• Trailer Brake Controller
• Smart Trailer Tow Connector (incl. BLIS® w/ Trailer Tow Coverage where is BLIS® available)

In any case, it is what it is in 2023, lots of trim / feature bundling details changed this model year.

That is correct - the tech tow was about the same price as the stand alone package. Sorry I wasn't too clear. I'm looking at a KR or Lariat

Not just a 2023 thing. I ordered the Tow Tech package for my XLT back in February '22. That package was removed from my order a few months later (along with the CoPilot Assist 2.0 -- goodbye adaptive cruise control...). As the 360 Camera feature was something I really wanted, I was able to sub in the Trailer Tow Package. So, like in the original post, I had to pay for Trailer Tow and 360 Camera packages. And I only got the small screen. :cautious: (Even with that pathetic little screen, I still love the 360 camera feature).

I called it months ago that they would be paywalling or forcing to bundle even more features to hide price increases. Then there’s the shrinkflation on the 2022 trucks where they lost their climate control knob displays and glove box lights amongst other things. I wonder what seldom thought of but useful features Ford will ditch in 2023 to save a penny?

Looking at the order sheets for 2023, it appears that Ford has limited the HDPP to only the XL trims, which sucks because nearly every option on XL costs more and there are rarely incentives available. When I was first looking at trucks in 2019, I would see similarly configured but better equipped XLTs for thousands of dollars less than the XLs on the lot and much of that was because of manufacturer’s incentives.

Hopefully you can figure something out. I am ambivalent at this time about the 360° cameras. I find myself using the extra features less and less but I am glad the truck has them mostly if someone else is driving; though now that I can’t replace my truck if anything happens to it, that likely won’t happen.

Good luck!

Everyone's preferences differ, no worries!

Myself, I went with the stand-alone 360-degree cam package 763 on my 2022 because
  • I knew I'd be adding the accessory trailer-mounted cam which requires the 360-cams
  • I knew I wanted the prerequisite Max Tow package anyway to meet my towing needs
But yeah not everyone needs the towing packages and the $ that go with them, so yeah, the 'Tow tech' package was (tense is key) a great deal for the cams. Bummer that it's gone for 2023 for sure.

I'll also opine that I've come to LOVE the 360-degree cams for daily, non-towing, driving. It's now automatic habit to reach up and punch the front/overhead view button as I'm approaching a nose-in parking space in a lot like at the grocery store, I find it very useful to see the parking lines, adjacent vehicles, and the exact clearance to the vehicle parked facing in front of me all at one time. 'YMMV' as they say.

I too have become obsessed with hitting the camera button on every pull in park to make sure I'm the perfect distance from whatever is ahead and also square between the side lines lol. So glad I ordered my 22 when I did to get all the options I got...and save some dough before most of the price increases!

I find myself parking more straight and faster too using the windows and mirrors than when using the screen. Especially if parallel parking.

I really only look at the camera to make sure that I don’t back over the neighbor’s cat; even though it’s always getting paw prints all over my truck.

One of the other things is I do a fair amount of driving and backing up with the tailgate down, so the reverse camera is useless in that case. They really should have done better, like the flip down license plate frames on old station wagons.

Would the bed camera help here?

Keep in mind that if you are ordering a 2.7 your towing capacity is only 6000lbs without the tow package. 7000lbs with the 3.5. I nearly missed that and would have been very disappointed as I needed at least 7500.

Adding this package goes up to 7700lbs on the 2.7.

As someone who paid for the trailer tow package for the sole reason of getting the 360 cameras, and is not getting the cameras, these threads sting.

I'll go away as I quietly convince (lie) myself I won't be missing anything by not having the cameras.

What is the back story on your truck that you’re not getting the cameras? I’m curious because my truck was produced 7/19 and was on chip hold until this past Monday when it was finished and is now awaiting shipment. I have the Tow Tech package and 360 cameras.

Order mixup. Nothing with production. No issues that I am aware of getting the cams when ordered properly.
