I did find info to get a better estimate on curb weight in the eSource book that I can calculate based on my build, with the GVWR, that gets me a closer estimate on payload. The dealer payload+curb > GVWR so it can't be right.

Another thing I have found based on my meticulous reading is that the towing capacities for conventional towing require a weight distribution hitch. This is barely mentioned, but the capacity for a weight carrying hitch on these trucks is much lower (5000 lbs is all I've seen, even with Max tow). That is written down from ford in the RV& trailer towing guide on page 45.

Thank you for posting this - the 4800 lbs Rear axle capacity may help answer a lot a speculation on the rear axle used in PowerBoost equipped F-150s in numerous other threads, looks like the Rear GAWR spec below may really reflect capacity instead (otherwise where does your 4150 lbs Rear GAWR fit?):

Some of what is in that document is definitely not correct, so I don't know that I would rely on any of it.

It would be great if it came with that axle though... Thats the 3/4 floating one I believe

Also there table you posted lists gawr, not capacity, so it's the 4150 that's relevant unfortunately

I am oblivious to calculating the towing capacity. I have a fully loaded platinum powerboost with max towing. My payload seems like crap compared to others I’ve seen. Can anyone chime in and give me the exact towing capacity of my truck?

Honestly? Like most 1/2 ton trucks the tow capacity, regardless of what it officially is, will not be reached because the Payload capacity becomes the first barrier you hit.

There are exceptions, of course. If the F150 is built on the HDPP frame, it can get a substantial Payload increase that could very well allow that specific truck to hit its towing capacity and still have Payload left. But they are rare trucks and Ford really doesn't even want you to order one. It exists for manufacturers claims of "Best in Class".

With your Platinum Powerboost Payload, you can be sure that BEAST of ~600ftlbs of torque isn't going to have a tough time pulling whatever you are able to carry. :)

Payload = carry
Tow = pull

The Powerboost begs to be available with the HDPP chassis/Payload. That incredibly powerful drivetrain and the onboard 7.2KW generator is an RV boondockers dream machine.

Thank you so much for your reply. How can you tell if a ford is fitted with the HDPP frame? Is there a sticker placed on frame?

A sharp eye will notice the 6.5' bed and unique wheels Ford will have used for that year model.
But the easiest and most convincing evidence is opening the driver's door.

That's my brother's 2018 3.5 Ecoboost.
It's an RV towing beast!

Ford won't let you have the Hybrid with the HDPP option. And you are limited to XLT as the highest trim. But I'd gladly add Katzkinz leather and whatever else would be necessary to be comfortable in a Gen14 HDPP Powerboost

The 3 most important criteria in real estate are: Location, Location, Location.

For 3 most important criteria for a half-ton tow vehicle are: Payload, Payload, Payload.
