Just purchased a new 2022 ford F150 2 months ago. It has 3.5L engine with Ecoboost. V6. Since I got the truck I notice it has a rough idle. Once you park the truck. You can feel the cabin starts to vibrate. You can feel it on the seat. Armrest. And while you’re driving above 60-75 mph truck has a vibration. Tires are new and not unbalanced. I test drove another truck today and it feels the same as mine. Not sure if anybody else has notice this vibration on these new F150s?

Kinda feel I made the wrong purchase already. After paying $60K for a truck that you cannot enjoy a smooth ride. I am currently working with dealer for a resolution. Because that is unacceptable for a $60K truck and it’s not smooth ride.

Ford has released several updates to the PCM for these trucks, dramatically improving shifting, among other things. My truck idles perfectly smooth. I would say something mechanical is wrong, or it may need a software update. I can look to see if your truck has any updates available in FDRS, but you would need to PM your VIN.

My truck vibrated slightly at speed, definitely noticeable when it was new. Got new tires and it’s smooth now. I wouldn’t completely trust factory balancing or those cheap hankook tires.

Thank you for your response. Have the dealer try to fix issue ? Or you just accepted the rough idle on the new truck.

Hi,
VIN is 1FTFW1E84NFB86997
And the truck has been checked at
Keith Hawthorne Ford
617 N Main St, Belmont, NC 28012.
But dealer has said this is normal issue for new fords 3.5L eco. Which it’s bad if they are all like that.

It's common behavior on the EcoBoost (and now PowerBoost), as discussed on this and other forums. It's also referred to as engine or idle "shudder." It pops up on the forums frequently.

It definitely surprised me, coming from smooth idling cars and trucks. I don't think it has improved as much as I've just become used to it.

But I also think it happens only on the 3.5. Because I had a 2018 2.7 ecoboost with auto start /stop. And that truck was smooth all the time. I think it sucks people don’t know before buying. I definitely hate this in my new truck. I think a trade in to a 2.7 is coming. After only driving it 3K miles.

My 3.5 PowerBoost has had a rough idle since new.
Mine is fairly smooth most of the time but the PB's have a rough idle compared to the regular 3.5 Eco's. More so if Eco idle is disabled or idling in gear when it's charging the hybrid battery. The extra drag on the engine causes it to lug a little at idle. It did improve a fair bit after switching to 93 octane so may try that to see if it helps both the PB and regular 3.5's.

Do you know if Ford is aware of this engine shudder when idling ? Do they plan to come up with a software update or anything? Dealer cannot do anything they said. It’s out of their hands. We all would appreciate some sort of answers to this experience we are having with our expensive purchase. Thanks !

Not being a SA, but mine idles smooth.
It’s ok to contrast. I’ll second your smooth idle. No issues with my ‘22 3.5.
