Digging through the 2021 vs 2022 EPA sheets and there are a few differences.
The key one being why did the EPA rating change (specifically on the 4x4) 24/24 2021 vs 23/23 for the 2022.
I have not seen a good answer to this.
After digging through the EPA data the CO2 and SMOG data are different (2022 is higher than 2021). It is the only truck engine model in the 2022 to be different than 2021.
So one of 3 things has to have happened.

- there are internal differences
- there are external differences affecting the mpg
- the initial 2021 testing inputs were wrong/ inflated and the 2022 MY have been corrected
