Today I lost GPS, Sat Radio and cell phone connection functionality to sync today. After trouble shooting, rebooting my truck without any success I performed a "RESET - to factory defaults". Looking back I should have disconnected/reconnected the battery to see if that reboot would work but I was not able to at the time. I can't stress this enough DO NOT DO THIS!!! I found out tonight through a very long call with Ford Pass support that the reset does not set YOUR truck back to factory defaults as to when it was purchased but to some other time in history dictated by FORD. All of my sync functions work as before the RESET but now I've lost some functionally of Ford Pass. I no longer have the functionality to be notified when my doors or tailgate are opened. I was told by tech support tonight that this function is currently being updated and has been removed and will be reinstated during the next OTA update scheduled for Oct 2023. So I have to wait four months without this ability.
FORD MOTOR COMPANY This is completely unacceptable!!! When performing a RESET to Factory defaults I should not be prohibited in getting my truck back to the configuration prior to performing the RESET. You sell the most popular purchased truck and a very popular truck for theft and you see the need to take theft detection functionality away from owners while you enhance software that should have been tested and verified prior to providing in your product line. This is poor business practice, not that it surprises me since its all about profit over employee satisfaction.
At a minimum you need state on the Sync screen that when performing a RESET you might loose functionality that you can't regain or resolve. I'm sure I'm not the only F-150 owner that has experienced this or might experience this before the next OTA update, you might want to warn owners about this.
So the question remains FORD MOTOR COMPANY What are you going to do for me?
