Are you sure it isn't 301a? I think if it was 302a there would be about a billion orders for the HDPP... Maybe I'm wrong!

Ok I'm not a master tow person but if you are worried about towing get a 3/4 ton. Stickers do't tell you what you can tow they are for the ratings on the truck. If it doesn't fit your towing needs don't ask permission from someone else to over rate the towing capability of a truck you are worried about.

F150 payload can vary greatly from 1300lbs to well over 3000lbs.
A F 150 Hdpp has a 1.25 ton payload. Those old 1/2 , 3/4 ton ratings don't exactly reflect the payload any more. A f250 supercrew disel has a lower payload than a f150 HDPP

Yeah I wouldn't get a diesel in a 3/4 ton. But a 7.3 gasser is going to have 3000Ish payload. The real difference between a half ton and a 3/4 ton is in the towing experience especially with a long trailer 28 ft or more. The dog is wagging the tail instead of the tail wagging the dog. I love the F150 as much as anyone but they can increase the tow rating all they want on them there is no comparison between towing 7000+ lbs with an F150 and an F250.

Do you have any data to support that? This is the first I have heard of that and it would be different from how it was calculated in the past.

Yes, as the towing guide states that is included in the towing capacity guidelines. But that is for the trailer weight limits. NOT meaning you can just add an extra 300 to the payload sticker.
