No real surprises here but interesting to see that the PHEV hybrid F-150 will get a 3.5L. Probably the same V6 base engine from the current F-150 which makes 375 hp. The Hybrid F-150 will probably be 400+ HP then.

I think it'll be a non-turbo 3.5L V6 in the hybrid F150. So I don’t think the PHEV is going to hit 400hp. It should have real good torque though with the electric assist.

But there is no naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 in the current F-150, so you're thinking they'll use another engine just for the hybrid? Why wouldn't they just use F-150's current Ecoboost 3.5L V6 for the hybrid model?

I'm surprised Ford isn't using the 3.3L engine that the Explorer Hybrid uses.

The Hybrid is only going to be available for the higher trim levels so they probably wanted to give it the flagship engine that's being used in fullsized trucks and SUV's, which is now the 3.5L.

I don't think Ford will make a new non-turbo 3.5L just for hybrid F-150. Too costly and they would have just used the 3.3L hybrid powerplant from the Explorer hybrid like @TheOne mentioned.

I'm with @Peter P and think this the hybrid powerplant will use the ecoboost 3.5L and make over 400hp.

Should be over 500hp and 700 tq!! Go look at the 2019 Lincoln Aviator Hybrid as a preview. It has 495hp and 630 tq with the 3.0L

Wow didn't realize the Aviator hybrid hit 495hp. I remember when Lincoln originally estimated about 450hp. Good call on the 500hp, I think it could actually happen and would make a huge splash for the hybrid F150.

Good to see the 5.0L is still available. And this finally put the bed the 4.8L rumor if it wasn't already disproven.

As I posted in the hybrid section...

I think it'll be a 3.5L twin turbo for the hybrid based on appropriate power level based on where Ford is going to position the F-150 hybrid in the lineup.

The 3.3L natural aspirated only makes 318hp / 322lb-ft in the Explorer Hybrid, versus the 3.0L turbo which makes 494 hp / 630 lb-ft in the Aviator Hybrid.

And since Ford is planning to position the Hybrid F-150 as a higher trim (and price), it needs to be making closer to the Aviator's numbers than the Explorer's.

No way they'll make a separate 3.5-liter engine just for the hybrid. Cost would be extraordinary. Since it's not the 3.3 we can assume logically that it will be the Ecoboost.

But the Aviator has a 3.0-liter I believe, not the Ecoboost. Although you're right, the Aviator has crazy good HP and torque.

The 3.0L is twin turbo which is very similar to the 2.7L (same block) it's an ecoboost. Lincoln doesn't label them as ecoboost
