Alright guys, first time Ford owner, first f150 owner. Just bought a 2021 leadfoot grey super crew, 4x4, shortbed, sport.
Love every single aspect of this truck. From the drive to the loooks. But for the love of god, the idle is not pleasant. No codes, no lights, but the truck has a shudder on idle when cold. Once in drive, truck drives great, 22mpg on the highway doing 75MPH. No issues, so I think a misfire is out of the question. Anyone have any suggestions other than spark plugs and a dealership? Is this normal? It’s not “body” vibration. But it’s let’s you know a motor is running with a seat vibration every couple seconds. Is this normal? Oil is clear, and at proper level. Truck is flawless other then the idle. Been searching the forums for weeks but no resolve.

So many have noted this issue. Seems to be as designed. I’ve had it on other vehicles too, including my Mercedes’ AMG V8.

I keep reading that but just wanted a refresh answer since this gen has been out for a while now.

Well for anyone watching or following this thread I recently had a major update from my dealer yesterday after a serious issue came up with them failing to diagnose my idle issue. Apparently there is a known issue currently with the 3.5L and it’s oil system properties causing some vehicles to have issues. And low and behold one of the symptoms is an idle “shutter”. No idle relearn will solve the problem as my idle itself does not fluctuate. However if I pop the hood, the passenger side rear motor has a significant shake. They assume it’s from oil distribution but they are currently not sure. A ford service advisor is at my dealer with another vehicle attempting to properly diagnose and release a repair plan but I was told it may include new heads and/or cam.

Well I told my dealership of the issue over a month ago and they shrugged it off. On top of that the service foreman took my truck home without asking and I have screen shots in the ford app where it was left.

Because of this, and the unknown driving he/they could have done, they will be buying my vehicle back and putting me in another 2021 in lead foot or 2022 in white. They offered to repair the vehicle, and full lifetime warranty knowing they messed up but I said no and went the attorney route. That what prompted this course of action. Hope this helps anyone.

Hey there! Could you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local dealership? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your truck's shuddering.

I have same-very similar issue with the idle on my beautiful 2021 Lead foot in color - FX4 - F150-302A high package-3.5L EB

I say beautiful despite my issues with my RIG because I still love this truck. I and family members have had F150's in past years with very little to no issues until now.

See my thread on the issues I experienced. Hope this helps some.

Ford dealer has initiated a buy back and allocated me a 2022 fx4 sport in Oxford white. Same build as my 2021. Let’s see what happens and if the 2022’sbhave the same issue.

Yes sir. Even swap. No questions asked. I will not post attorney information as the dealer decided to handle the issue without attorneys present. However in my case they basically “stole” my vehicle for the night without asking so that may have been a bigger motive. My attorney would actually rather pursue legal action, but I don’t care, I just want a new truck and move on.
