We just caught a team of Ford engineers prototyping a F-150 barn-style tailgate. Seemingly made of plywood, the quick prototype seems to have an 80-20 split, with a handle on the passenger-side of the truck.
Ford is the only Big Three truck maker that doesn't offer a multi-function tailgate, with GMC offering the MultiPro and Ram offering a barn-style tailgate. The group also includes a GMC Sierra with the MultiPro tailgate as well as a Ram 1500 with the barn-style tailgate.
