2021 and newer 5.0 Cylinder Deactivation

Apparently Ford tried to sneak the cylinder deactivation in the 5.0 without telling anybody. I have a 2022 5.0 on order. I'm still going with it. I'm sure at some point someone will figure out how to turn it off. I'm hearing that driving in sport or haul mode will keep it from engaging.

It’s been pretty well known the 2021 5.0 has cylinder deactivation. Don’t think anything was being hidden or snuck in.

Did Ford advertise this? I have not seen anything. Even a sales rep I spoke to at my Ford dealership was unaware. It seems they want to keep it under the radar because I don't think it is popular amongst V8 purists.

It's very old news. If your dealer is telling you they don't know, they are probably lying.

Old news.... but it works quite well on mine for the last 20k miles. You can't even tell it is there.

It’s literally been posted on their site since the 2021s were launched under the engine features. This was never hidden anywhere lol

The only confusion was when trucks arrived there was no indicator on the dash when it was active like other manufacturers.

Wasn't trying to correct you, just pointing out the search and showing you what I found, I'm glad you asked actually, found some useful information regarding engine oils for my 5.0 in there.

Chilidog, no apologies necessary. Your salesman should be apologizing to you!
I have the 5.0 and it's awesome. Cylinder deactivation is completely undetectable with stock exhaust. Some say they can hear it with louder pipes.

Great! I don't plan on changing the exhaust. Do you drive in normal or eco mode? Would you drive in sport mode all the time if it actually turns off CD?

After a little research I found that Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w-30 doesn’t have that great of a moly count, but Rotella T6 Gas Truck 5W-30 does. So I’ll be pouring the T6 in mine.
