Are you sure this is correct? I didn’t think you could get 3.73’s on the EB
3.73 Electronic Locking Axle Ratio is standard on the following configurations:
• 3.5L PowerBoost™ Full Hybrid V6 engine, 4x4, with 145" or 157" wheelbase

3.73 Electronic Locking Axle Ratio is available on the following configurations:
• 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 engine, 4x2, with 122", 141", or 145" wheelbase
• 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 engine, 4x4, with 141", or 145" wheelbase
• 3.3L Ti-VCT V6 engine, 4x4, with 122" wheelbase
• 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine, 4x2, with 122", 141", 145", 157", or 163.7" wheelbase
• 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine, 4x4, with 122", 141", or 145" wheelbase
• 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engine, 4x2, with 122", 141", 145", 157", or 163.7" wheelbase

Vulnox (and etal). I have a 2021 F150 PB. I notice hesitation when I accelerate, especially from a stop. I never had this issue in my other Ford 150's. a) do ya'll experience that, and agree, b) why does that not bother ya'll?
I guess it’s because of the “gosh dang bury you back in the seat” torque that happens shortly after that. Yea… there’s a hesitation, but gosh dang this thing is unlike any truck I’ve been in. I guess that’s why it called “Power Boost”?

Drove both. Like both. Went with 3.5L Ecoboost because I have no need for a Supercrew with the stubby bed and wanted a Supercab Lariat, which comes with a 6.5' bed and is less money. Supercab Lariat means no power boost engine available, no moon roof option, if you wanted one. Powerboost means no 36 gallon gas tank, which I wanted. At last tank fill up to full the indicator showed 724 miles to empty and I am averaging 19.8 mpg at 1150 miles with mpg rising using my calculator. Go figure. So for now when I want to drive a hybrid I use my wife's 2020 Escape, which is averaging 44.2 mpg @ 9,200 miles.

That isn't telling the whole story though. You can only get the 3.5L Ecoboost and 3.73 with the HDPP. So yes, it is available, but not on a Lariat.

Here is what happens if you try to add 3.73 to a 3.5L EB Lariat.

It even covers this on the Max Tow details, only get the 3.73 with HDPP, which is not available on a Lariat.

Includes:
• 3.55 Electronic-locking Rear-Axle (If ordered with 3.0L Diesel Engine, 3.5L EcoBoost Engine without Heavy-Duty Payload Package, 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 Engine with 4x2)
• 3.73 Electronic-locking Rear-Axle (If ordered with 5.0L V8 Engine 3.5L EcoBoost Engine with Heavy-Duty Payload Package, 3.5L PowerBoost Full Hybrid V6 Engine with 4x4)

Haha..... Always nit-pickin'. :p (j/k)

You don't have to get HDPP, the Tremor comes with 3.5EB and 3.73. But yes, I agree, not possible on a Lariat.

Ha, not trying to pick any nits, I was just following the thread. Someone said above (not you) that they tested a 3.5 EB Lariat with 3.73, and then the comment you quoted about them thinking you couldn't get the 3.73 with 3.5 EB. Then your message seemed to indicate you could just as a general rule.

I was more responding to the Lariat message I guess, but trying to clear it up in general. I also forgot about the Tremor so that is a good note.

Ok so I’m a little confused. Can you get the 3.73 gear on a Xl STX 3.5 EcoBoost?

Only way to get a 3.73 on a 3.5EB is with the HDPP (Heavy Duty Payload Package) or a Tremor. I don't believe you can get HDPP on an XL STX, so the answer would be no. I don't know that you would want HDPP even if you could get it, it makes the truck ride a looooot stiffer, almost F-250 stiff. Maybe that is your thing, but just a heads-up. I have only heard of HDPP on 301a XLTs.

Sorry that's a long way to get to, in general, no you can't get a 3.5L EB with 3.73 aside from HDPP and Tremor. If HDPP is available on an STX and you can deal with the ride quality change, that is your path to 3.73 on an EB. Otherwise you would need a PowerBoost to get the E-Locker 3.73 on any trim level (except Tremor or Raptor).

Edit: I pulled up the 2021 Job 2 Order Guide and it shows you can get HDPP on a 100a or 101a XL, and for the STX package it doesn't explicitly say you can't get HDPP and STX. So again, that may be your only path. I just really have to caution that HDPP changes the ride a lot. I know some like the really stiff feel. The HDPP also has to have the HDPP wheels I believe, so I don't know that you could keep the standard STX wheels.

Hopefully someone with more familiarity with the STX can comment.
