So in my previous truck I ordered the 2.7 payload package. Im looking to order a new truck but would like a 2.7 with the BAP package. This package can not be configured with the payload package for whatever reason. So my question is what is the difference between getting the 2.7 payload package and just the 3.73 gear stand alone option. It mentioned a 9.75 gear set. Not really sure what that really means. Can some explain and what gear set does the stand alone 3.73 gear option come with and how does the gear set make a difference? TIA

As I understand it, the payload package comes with 3.73 gears and a bigger 9.75-inch rearend housing.
If you just opt for 3.73 gears and no Payload package, then you get the base 8.8-inch rearend housing and the 3.73 gears.

No true. The 3.73 gears means 9.75 rear. Cannot get 3.73 in the 8.8.

Have the 2.7 without the payload package, but with the 3.73 gears.
The rear is 9.75. Payload is 1518 and with tow package is rated at 8100 lbs for towing.

Can someone with the 2.7 that does not have the fx4 package or payload package only the 3.73 gear option confirm what gear set it comes with.

I can confirm that I have the 9.75 rear end, 3.73 gearing, 4x4, non-FX4, 2.7, no payload package 2021 F150. It is the one on the right in the pic below.

Didnt believe me?

Engine has no bearing. 3.73 equals 9.75.

If you are looking for a comparison I have a 5.0 with 3.73 rear end gives me 1998 pounds of payload. I do not have any kind of payload package or special stuff.

I just knew I wanted 3.73 to get the 9.75 (but not the notorious bolt busting 9.75HD) rear end

I've got a 2.7 with 3.73 and payload package. No FX4 package wich I don't think has any impact on the rear end.

Even if the 3.73 gears came in the 8.8 rear axle VS a 9.75 your not going to break it. 8.8 rear axle is in a lot of 150's since the inception of the 2.7 EB engine in 2015 and one rarely reads about rear axle failures with either rear axle.

One overlooked feature not mentioned about the payload package is the vehicle 6900 rating VS 6650 rating. Better frame, better spring rates & 9.75 rear axle.

I didnt see anything that said a better frame and better spring rates for the 2.7 payload package. Do you have a link that explains this?
