Am considering purchase of an F150 Supercab 4x4, 3.55 gearing with the 2.7 engine and was curious as to the kind of gas mileage I could expect. I checked the Fuelly website but they don't have a category for the 2.7. This would be a second F150 alongside a 2021 with the 3.5 Ecoboost that has been averaging in the 17-18 mpg range (it managed 20 mpg once on a 330 mile trip). It would never see speeds of over 70 mph, mostly less here around the farm.
Edit: I did buy the F150 SuperCab with the 2.7 engine, 3.55 gearing, 4x4, and have been more than happy with the gas mileage so far. In the 988 miles I have driven it so far the gas mileage has averaged 21.6 hand calculated, estimating 30% driving on country dirt roads and 70% highway. I thank everyone for their inputs. On one 238 mile round trip of highway driving at 65 mph the dash display showed 24.0 mpg which is outstanding but am sure a bit optimistic.

I have a 2.7 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4, 3.55, short bed.

Everyone is going to be a little different. I will always hit 75+ on highways. I commute to the office a couple days per week. Sometimes there's bad traffic. I do a lot of stop and go around town with the typical family stuff. It's rare that I have a heavy load and do not tow anything currently. With the exception of hauling and towing, I would guess I'm not a very efficient driver. My 11 month average is 18.6 mpg. On long trips I'll get 21-22+. Given your history with a 3.5 and the Supercab I'd guess you'll do better than me. That's my experience and just an internet guy guessing.

Lariat Super Crew 4.4 3.55 short bed here. On a highway run with the cruise set at 70 mph I have no problem getting 24-25 mpgs and in my commute, which is about 10 miles with 40% being city driving and 60% highway, cruising along about 65 mph I'm getting 21.5-22 mpg.
I have only put a couple tanks through it so I need to actually hand calculate it, this is all from the dash, so might be slightly lower, but this is also with winter gas. I drive pretty gingerly and sometime use Eco other times Normal modes.
Overall, love my 2.7! More than enough power for me, great MPGs, smooth and quiet but still just enough sound for me (not a V8 by any means in the sound department, but to me, more pleasurable than most 4-cylinders short of a cammed 4G63 :)).

And a big thanks for that have responded as I am very appreciative of your actual experiences with the 2.7 engine. Am also considering the Ford Ranger pickup with it's 2.0 Turbocharged engine but from what I am hearing the F150 may be getting almost as good of gas mileage. Am not disappointed with my present F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost in anyway and do appreciate the power for towing but would not be towing with the 2.7 F150 or 2.0 Ranger.

another Lariat Super Crew 4.4 3.55 short bed here.
I live in Northern CA., just did a 1000 mile round trip to SoCal last week. Mpg is always a little better southbound down Interstate 5 compared to northbound. I kept the truck in Normal mode this time. I'm not sure Eco mode helps on a trip like this.
This trip I kept speed to 75MPH or lower. On Fuelly I got 21.5mpg (which is hand calculated). I'm pretty happy with that. I had a little bit of city driving on the tank coming back home and had a 6 foot couch in back with tailgate down. I'd guess it weighed maybe 150 lbs. There is a bit more traffic and the a$$hole drivers factor is higher on the return trip. Due to how those two factors test my short fuse for such antics which in turn causes my right foot to push down harder, I was expecting much lower mpg. Fuelly showed 19.4mpg on that tank. I was pleasantly surprised at that.

The Lie-O-Meter on my truck reads right at 1 mpg higher than hand calculated.

My normal driving pattern is about 70% city driving, no payload or towing. I'm averaging about 18mpg on Fuelly.

I really like the 2.7 so far, I'm glad I picked it. It's a really good fit for my uses. There are numerous factors that affect reported mpgs. Lie-O-Meter or hand calculated, driving style, trip/traffic type etc....As Simon11 said, everyone is going to be a little different.
And remember, it's Eco-or-boost.

I primarily drive around town, with the occasional expressway jaunt.

As of right now, I average 12.2 l/100 km (19 MPG) with 75% City, 25% Highway.

On a mix of highways and expressways I can get down to 9.2 l/100 km (25.5 MPG).

The 2.7 is a really torquey engine. It makes all of its power down low and it's fun to drive around town.

On Fuelly, I think you need to pick 2021 to be able to select the 2.7. For some reason, '22 & '23 don't have the same engine selection drop-down available.

A guy on my dock where I keep my boat in the summers has the 2.7 and averages 25 mpg on highway trips empty, pretty good if you ask me

You’ll get a million answers, but realistically 18-20 is what you’ll see real world, hand calculated. Lots of people see the readout, and don’t actually calculate the gas mileage, and the values are often quite different. If you select 2021 it has the 2.7 option and you’ll get an idea of what you can expect. I’m currently averaging around 18mpg on winter blend in my 21, and I expect it’ll pop back up around 20mpg when the summer blend makes its way back up to New England.

I agree… I’m just under 10k and a year and a half on my ‘21 and I’m right at 19 average (hand calculated) over the lifetime/seasons. I average better with summer and worse with winter… but I also have low mileage. Those numbers may improve if I drove it more and I’m about a 50/50 mix.

Thanks for that @imnuts! I was wondering about that and never considered picking a different year. Was assuming to get that info listed required a paid membership.

No joke, if you aren't wild, 24 combined mpg isnt uncommon. I have gotten near 28 mpg on several trips which have been 75% highway. Doing strictly city, I never go below 20 ever.

For reference, 2.7 Screw, 3.55, 36gal, 5.5ft bed, 4x4 FX4 with super inefficient tow mirrors and chrome running boards. If I got rid of the running boards and swapped mirrors for regulars....I can only get so erect.

Truck specs are in my signature. According to the trip calculators, my truck is staying right in the middle of the sticker estimates: 10.2 l/100km - 12.0 l/100km. This is obviously climate dependent. Winter I'm usually between 10.8-11.3 and in the summer I'm usually between 10-10.5. Mostly 80-100km/h speeds.
