Contrary to what we think makes sense, hybrids are more efficient when the battery is keeping you moving (or stopped) rather than starting. Don’t be afraid to accelerate normally from a full stop.Got it last night and just finished setting everything up.
A few things I’ve noticed so far:
- The running boards are very loud. Anyone else’s noticeably louder than previous year models?
- Almost impossible to stay in electric mode from a stop unless you’re the only person on the road and have forever to accelerate. Once you’re up to speed you can stay in electric as long as you’re on a flat road and not going much more than 60 or so. The nice thing though is that you can’t really even notice when it switches from one mode to the other if you’ve got the stereo playing even at a low level.
- The braking isn’t as bad as as I’ve read. Doesn’t feel all that different from my last truck.
Side note, I can confirm that the bedcover and bed mat from my 2016 both fit perfectly!
