There are a number of posts from others with what sounds to be similar, but also potentially different issues. I’m curious to know what your opinions are. The truck has 150 miles, and the 7.2kw pro power option.

First sound is a higher pitch whine that sometimes happens on or around startup. The associated video is recorded from the exterior of the truck. Last time it happened after the truck had been driven for 30 mins and then sat for ~1 hour. It continued for at least 5 minutes which included a minute of drive time. I rolled up my window and turned on the music so I couldn’t really hear it anymore. So I don’t know how long it lasted. Others noticed and asked me if something was wrong with the truck.

the second noise is a loud buzzing hum. The associated video is recorded from underneath the truck. There seems to be two superimposed sounds here. A loud buzzing and a humming. It’s the buzzing in most concerned with. It’s seriously loud, and it was doing this when stopped after having driven it for 30 mins.

Any input? I’m curious to know if anyone has determined if these noises are 1) working as intended or 2) indicative of something legitimately wrong. Both of them are loud and very annoying

Two things to consider: 1st the system will spin up the hybrid motor/generator to expected cranking speed of the engine; 2nd the transmission has an electric oil pump to lubricate the transmission while the engine is in a stop cycle. I suspect one or both of these maybe the source of your noise. I have a 21 Powerboost. I do not hear the noises you are hearing. It is clear that something(s) is/are running for a few seconds before engine crank begins...

Hi there, Buck. These noise concerns on doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your F-150. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation".
