Mine told me the same thing and that "mechanical parts don't like to work in the cold". I raised holy hell with the service manager and brought it back for them to replace the assembly.. and it's been fine since. I suspect they replaced it with a later revision of the assembly because it's...
Only oddities I have experienced is delayed (or false?) alerts. Like I'll get home and lock up and go inside and 2-3 minutes later I get an alert that the door was opened. It's rare but it's happened.
I use Eco mode most of the time, only don't when I forget. I did a comparison last month when I drove from Ohio to Gulf Shores. I drove down in normal mode and average 20.9 MPG (driving on avg 80mph). 22.9 on the return trip in Eco, although I think it was closer to 24MPG by my own manual...
This happened to me once.. long road trip last month. It just out of the blue alerted and hit the brakes briefly then resumed. I assumed at the time there was some interference/debris. It was in moderate traffic, so it was a bit alarming.. don't recall if I was next to a tractor trailer or what.
This has been my experience too.. the alert has helped cause me to react (if you haven't turned that off) and break harder sooner than what it will do on its own. Like you said, it seems brake late and hard at higher speeds. It's been great in city driving.. a few similar situations going...
I also came over from GM after driving Chevy's for my first several vehicles.. first Ford was a 2005 F150 STX.. I traded in a K5 Blazer for it. I loved it but it was falling apart. I loved the 05 and it solidified that I'd probably never go back to GM again. I'm now on my 3rd F150.
I love mine.. I think you will too.. The contrast between the grey and the black is just superb IMO.. especially after a fresh bath in direct sunlight. It really gives it a different look.
