  1. Broken Timing Chain 23 5.0

There is no way that the timing chain broke if the truck still drove. The timing chain controls the pistons, electric for spark and valves for intake and exhaust. While they are in there ask if they'll change the oil pump belt too. It's in the back of the engine so you have to pull the cab off...
  2. Do you REALLY NEED 4×4?

I've had 4x4 living in Texas and Georgia. It snowed 1 foot on I-10 when I moved from Houston to San Antonio. In Georgia freak snow storms would occur every year or so. I used 4x4 in both places. I pulled a lumber truck out of the mud in GA. I look at it like what is my life or health worth...
  3. Do you REALLY NEED 4×4?

I like being prepared and to have the ability to drive anywhere ar anytime. I drove to Minnesota in February. On the way back I got caught in a white out. All you could see was the taillights of the car in front. A wreck happened and I had to use shift on the fly 4x4 and go off highway to avoid...
  4. 5.0 vs 3.5 - more reliable when driven hard?

Let's see how long they last. Chain driven last 200,000 and beyond. Ford still uses chain driven timing in some engines.
  5. 5.0 vs 3.5 - more reliable when driven hard?

5.0 with a chain driven oil pump and timing. 3.5 while fast, bear in mind that the turbos generate the power and they will fail.
  6. 2021 F-150 EcoBoost Typical Issues?

21 eco 3.5 18,000 and no issues other than recalls. My first ecoboost and I'm impressed with the power. Fast truck.
  7. LEVEL VS KEEPING THE RAKE

I have a Supercab with max tow and the back end is even higher. It's BS. My 2013 Supercab came level from the factory.
  8. Walmart Shelf Oil API-SP Oil tests for 3.5 Liter Ecoboost V6 440 horsepower version

Mobil 1 I change every 9000 miles. I have used this oil in 3 Ford F150s. 2004 5.4 traded in @ 240,000 miles. Motor ran strong as it did when brand new on trade in. No engine issues. 2013 5.0 currently has 205,000 miles and still has power. No engine issues whatsoever. 2021 3.5 Eco with only...
  9. No Longer Part of the Powerboost Fam

5.0 is a great engine. 204,000 on my 2013 with no issues, but waterpumps.
  10. First of Many electric vehcile woe stories?

You should start building cars and trucks.
  11. First of Many electric vehcile woe stories?

Eventually someone smart will figure out how to get more range.
  12. First of Many electric vehcile woe stories?

Which basically does nothing on a long trip where its mostly highway miles.
  13. First of Many electric vehcile woe stories?

The world is not ready for EVs. They are good for short trips and running errands. I have read that the F150 lighting tows like a beast. Uphill like nothing is behind the truck. The hybrid is the way to go in lieu of diving in head first. Eventually they will figure out how to get more range...
  14. 87 octane vs 93 octane - ECOBOOST

I have watched videos about the effectiveness of Shell V Power and I begun buying a couple of tanks in the Spring and Fall.
  15. Belt driven oil pumps. Just 5.0 and 2.7?

Screw belts. I've never owned a timing belt engine. When I learned of the 5.0 oil pump belt that eliminated that engine for me.
  16. 21-23 visual differences

All the new f150s at the dealership near me had the shorter plastic coated atteneas. Granted there was only about 10 trucks when this dealer would typically have 50 - 75 in stock.
  17. 21-23 visual differences

I noticed that the 23 F150s have shorter atteneas and are covered in plastic. My 21 is 100% metal and it's tall enough to remove for the car wash. I saw some guy leave his on and the car wash tore the attenea off and made a big hole in his aluminum fender.
  18. Oil change

Mobil 1 oli filter is what I use with Mobil 1 synthetic. The 3.5 eco uses 5w - 30. I change every 9000 miles.
  19. Wow, just configured my 22 XLT PB on website +$6,500 price increase!

I've never paid sticker for a new F150 in my life until 2021. My 2013 XLT was $32,000 out the door.
  20. Call me crazy, maybe?

I was looking at diesels real hard. I wanted a 21 F150 supercab 3.0 PS, but there was only 1 in the whole country at the time in Detroit. I could have bought a loaded 21 F250 6.7 PS for what I paid for my 21 F150 3.5 ECO. At the time prices for F250 were what sticker is for a F150 now. You...
