  1. Stealth Camping in the Lightning!

It's a shame the seats that lie flat are only available with the Platinum.
  2. Lightning Insurance Costs - real numbers

I got rear ended nearly 2 years ago. About 75% of the repair costs was due to repainting nearly the whole car since they couldn't match the bumper they replaced.
  3. Ford Lightning Lariat SR For Sale Possibily

I have no clue why anyone would order a SR Lariat. SR XLT? Sure, but not the higher end model.
  4. Slide-in Truck camper (lightweight) with F150 Lightning

This is not true. I switched from Tesla's Michelin MXM4s to some regular Pilot Sport 4S and noticed no difference in consumption. You'll only see high efficiency tires on cars like the Bolt, i3, or Leaf. Typically, higher end EVs go for tires that prioritize performance and comfort over range...
  5. DC Charging Peak Speed: Extended 155kW, Standard 120kW

As Seageo mentioned, GM's not putting 800V components in their vehicles at this time. Instead, the battery pack has a connector which changes the voltage from 400 to 800 temporarily for DC fast charging.
  6. EV routing for Lightning coming?

I hope it'll be able to do neat things like preheat the battery before reaching a DCFC station.
  7. DC Charging Peak Speed: Extended 155kW, Standard 120kW

I'm not certain how many 400V DCFC stations out there do speeds greater than 150kW. Electrify America's 350kW chargers are 800V, and Tesla Superchargers aren't open to non-Tesla cars at the moment.
  8. F-150 Lightning Official EPA Range MPGe Revealed in Window Sticker (Base + Extended Range)!

Wh/mile or kWh/100 miles are what I prefer, and I hope Ford allows us to see those metrics since miles/kWh is logarithmic and prone to misrepresentation of how efficient a vehicle is.
  9. Wave 5 Invites???

He said April-May will have cleanup waves, so perhaps Ford sent out that email saying all 2022 invites were sent early?
  10. LIGHTNING CURIOSITY -- Why Did You Choose It?

My power company manages to make money in the long run by charging me more for energy consumed during the on-peak times of each day. So they're incentivizing customers like me to not use a lot of energy when it's expensive. Even as EV adoption continues takes off we'll see more power companies...
  11. Wave 5 Invites???

It's a shame neither of those ZEV states are within a reasonable driving distance from me, otherwise I'd switch to a dealer there.
  12. LIGHTNING CURIOSITY -- Why Did You Choose It?

Yep! I typically drive 19k miles each year. A truck getting 23 mpg or 4.3 gallons per 100 miles will cost me about that much in fuel. The power company I use at home has free EV charging at night so this saves me a lot of money.
  13. LIGHTNING CURIOSITY -- Why Did You Choose It?

This isn't really true. If you configure a regular F-150 with options to match the Lightning's features you get to very similar prices after the $7,500 tax credit. Edit: For me, I choose to drive EVs for less maintenance requirements and convenience of charging from home every night. Electric...
  14. Lightning vs R1T - Timing and cost

Why do you keep talking about women's reproductive cycle in a thread about electric trucks?
  15. Range Without Payload?

I believe the reason why Rivian's truck is inefficient despite having a smaller frontal area than the F150-L is that it has 4 permanent magnet motors, and there's no way to shut them off since they always generate power when rolling. Maybe Rivian's upcoming dual motor config will be a lot more...
  16. Ford Announces Separate "Model e" EV Division and "Ford Blue" Internal Combustion Division

As much as I'd love to see this happen, I seriously doubt this is going to be "Ford's one neat trick that dealerships hate" clickbait. The dealerships have too much lobbying power, and Ford has to win in each of the states one at a time.
  17. Let's Talk About the other EVSE included with the Lighting

The 30A charger is considered a mobile one. You can bring it to a friend/family's house or hotel. I've managed to find 3 hotels along my travels where they had 14-50 outlets instead of dedicated charging hardware.
  18. Wave 4 invitation - did you get one??

If it helps you feel any better they'll be making MY2023 this Fall. This means we may still be eligible for that sweet $7,500 tax credit before it tapers off next year.
