  1. This Forum helped me get Priority Reservation on 2022 Lightning - Thank you

I apologize if this has already been discussed. I got my letter saying that I would not get a 2022 model. What does that do to the price? Can I still get the Pro for $39.9?
  2. 80A circuit question

We live on the New Madrid fault. I pay earthquake insurance for the house and I feel like a long term power outage plan is prudent as infrastructure and fuel availability makes a generator a little iffy. We are getting solar panels soon and an electric vehicle makes sense when there is no...
  3. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

Looking at your sidebar/profile thing, you have a deposit on a Ford Lightning? How did you do that? All I could do was get a reservation.
  4. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

Man, this is getting complicated! I just want to get a nice battery pickup and throw grandma, her rocking chair, and about 10 solar panels in the back and drive to wherever Zion is going to be after the the big solar flare. Can't do THAT with hydrogen, Mr. Toyota!
  5. Ford and Purdue make cable that *could* reduce charging times to match gas fill-ups

And I thought the charging bottleneck was the battery! https://www.foxnews.com/auto/ford-invents-cable-charge-electric-cars-5-minutes Ford invents cable that can charge electric cars in about 5 minutes Patent-pending technology developed with Purdue University Gary Gastelu 3 hours ago The...
  6. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

Here is how it will play out. I will buy an F-150 all electric battery operated truck with a payment that makes me cry every month. Six months after I sign the dotted line, Toyota will announce a earth shattering breakthrough in hydrogen generation, storage, and transportation. EV vehicles...
  7. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

You both make good sense in my book! I do have a couple of questions though. Is market capitalization a good measure for consumer demand? I thought it was mostly about stock price and that's about institutional investors, day traders, and such. In my mind I picture a building with the blue...
  8. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

Our economic system should be based on strength not growth. "Ever seen an old giant?"- Billy Crystal I know, wish in one hand and ....
  9. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

I didn't see a question mark at the end of the sentence but yes. I think that is inline with trying to do right by the environment as long as the environmental value of the crushed vehicle is maximized that's a great step.
  10. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

I don't know what the median or average income is for the members of this forum, but $40K is at the top of my range of what I can afford. Even the Pro model will be a tremendous upgrade for me and my '97 F-150. If you are well heeled, I'm happy for you. But me and quite a few like me, need...
  11. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

I agree 100%. If we looked for the root cause (and the white elephant in the room) of most of our problems, it would trace back to over population. Why it isn't being addressed with the urgency and importance it is, is beyond me.
  12. Uh, Oh... looks like the EV tax credits are hitting an obstacle

The difference now is that the planet is about to start cooking in it's own juices and we have to do something quick or hand our grandkids a world without much joy in it. We need an incentive to change our collective behavior. IMHO
  13. Six 2022 F-150 Lightnings spotted charging during testing, w/ first Oxford White look

Antenna length is a function of frequency. The higher the frequency the shorter then antenna. Satellite communications frequencies are in the gigahertz range so they require very short antennas.
  14. School me (us) on smart chargers

I live in NE Arkansas. I can't drive to Fayetteville without going through Little Rock. If I go to my favorite camping/hiking area in the Leatherwood Wilderness area, I will have 2% battery left when I get back home.
  15. School me (us) on smart chargers

Again, this is only a contingency plan. I would hope I would never need the generator. What happens when you plan your route but you unknowingly take a route that includes a 1000ft elevation change spread out over the 200 mile range of the battery and it is depleted faster than anticipated?
  16. School me (us) on smart chargers

If I didn't plan on pulling a trailer, I wouldn't be so concerned about it. I would have to mark hotels off the list of chargers I expect since I would not be a customer. The generator would only be used in an emergency and only enough to get me to the next charger. I worked in IT and I am a...
  17. School me (us) on smart chargers

I want to do the right thing by the environment otherwise I'd get a Raptor.
  18. No Home Back-Up System Equipment Specs

~$2000-$3000 for a whole home inverter Could a whole home inverter be used with a portable generator to clean up the power? Thinking about what would be possible to take a generator along in the bed of the truck as a backup plan when pulling a travel trailer.
  19. School me (us) on smart chargers

If this is off topic please direct me to the proper area. I will be ordering the Lightning on the 26th. It will be my first experience with electric vehicles and I do have range anxiety. I may want to pull a travel trailer with this truck. It will be the standard battery. I don't mind the...
