IMHO increased crankcase pressure won't cause the oil pan gasket to leak. It "could" cause the main seals to wheep a bit tho.
That being said my catchcan directions say to clean the screen every 15k miles.
Have you tried tightening the bolts?

How is the exhaust once the engine is warm? Any signs of white fog/mist coming out?
When the engine is warm if you sniff around the engine is there a coolant (sweetish) smell?
A coolant leak won't always hit the ground if it is small enough, it could be pooling then evaporating or vaporizing if...
Mine is similar but not necessarily exact...definitely more pronounced under load than cruise or decel. 45-50 mph is where it seems the worst.
Your pinion down a couple degrees is correct...it allows for the pinion to "climb" the ring under acceleration and not run into U-joint phase issues...
Can you jack up the rear and run it in drive safely? I had a very similar sound in my '95 F-150. Once I raised the rear and ran it in drive the hum was located tot he rear end. Turned out to be the rear pinion bearing (at the head not the yoke end so it wasn't until I pulled the rear entirely...
OK so it seems the play is normal...odd but I guess it's engineered that way.
The play I have is similar....I haven't put a dial on mine either.
I know this isn't the cause of my vibration during acceleration but wanted another opinion, other than the dealers, as to it's legitimacy.
I'll have to...
All the things you mention typically show up as rotation backlash in nature...sure in the right instance rotational can morph into lateral due to centerlines changing but not in this case and it's on the other end of the driveshaft
It isn't a tire or wheel as the frequency of the vibration is...
I know gear/chain all have some amount of backlash to allow for expansion and lubrication when hot.
I guess I wasn't clear.
This is more like a yoke nut is loose, a front or rear tc front output shaft bearing loose/worn, worn splines, or a bad U-joint or CV.
These shafts have a boot that...
I have a vibration in the truck that the dealership has yet to find.
One item I found is the front driveshaft is sloppy at the transfer-case. IMO any play in the drivetrain is unacceptable, so I had the dealer look into it, they checked it then put another '22 F-150 on the lift to compare...and...
I guess I've got one of the better dealers. When my turn come to get the motor replaced they will send a crew out to do it at my house or work....pretty simple IMO.
Darrell
I asked my dealer about the status of the wiper motor recall the other day.
I was told Ford was sending them 5 per month and I was on "the list".
Darrell
Sounds like good service for sure.
Seems like it's hit and miss whether or not you can get in for anything in a timely manner these days. I think my dealer is one of the better ones so i'm lucky.
My pinion seal started leaking at 13k mi.....They usually don't leak unless you have a ton of...
So here's my thought on this. It may be right or not.
At present time Ford is just replacing the ones that are currently acting up due to limited availability and will catch up on ALL of them once the supply is there.
It does make sense, but I do see your point also.
Darrell
I don't mind to much that it disconnects over 25ish but doing it at over 1/2 throttle is useless IMO....for most users maybe that's a good thing but for those who know this is likely going to piss people off.
If the engineers were that worried make it an option so those who know what they are...
I don't know about all models but my Max Tow has a select-able locker. Did yours not come with one or do you want to get rid of it? To me, and my way of thinking, this would be a step backward.
Might be easier to contact Eaton marketing directly.
Darrell
Personally I use NAPA gold air filters. I have done quite a bit of testing on my off-road truck that sees a lot of dust and am impressed with it's filtering.
K&N is only for the street, if you hate your engine or maybe for the sticker to put on your window lol.
Darrell
I air down just about every-time I'm off-road for an extended time. Sand, rocks, washboard roads etc. It gives a smoother ride for both you and the truck. it allows the tire to form around the ground and provide much improved traction as well as preventing punctures since the tire can flex out...
