This is a fascinating rhetorical device/high level debate club stuff: conceding a point, then using it to buffer your own argument. I'm seriously going to use this on my wife next time we quibble. To your point, 30 sounds like an awful lot considering the way things are going.
Thanks for the update and sorry for the bummer news. I take it you’ve got an early reservation? I’m sticking with Granger— I’m a late reservation and won’t see any action for a long while anyway, but now I’m beginning to think this is going to stretch out into 2024, or 2025, probably beyond.
I’m interested in the Buzz as well, more from a people hauler perspective than anything else (although if it resembled the original aesthetically, that would be a big plus). I don’t know more than a cursory online search would reveal, but if it becomes available before I can order the...
you’re not kidding. Mine’s already getting jealous (and vindictive), throwing ‘check engine lights’ and other automotive shenanigans; in her defense, she does have 147,000 miles.
I’m no expert in battery chemistry, but manufacturing your own batteries is one thing, resourcing the raw materials is quite another:

I’d recommend applying the same due diligence to Bernie’s interview as you did to Manchin’s letters and speeches. Bernie said IF indeed BBB is dead, bring it to the floor and have Manchin publicly justify his inability to untether himself from special interests, and to keep his constituents—the...
Manchin is a “Democrat” in a state that voted overwhelmingly for Trump. Everybody knew, or should have known where he stood for a long time. Democrats should blame themselves for piss-poor messaging and inter-party haggling Once you peel back the rhetoric and posturing, BBB is popular with a...
Wow, this is a bold and in my view anyway, intelligent move. I’ve never had FB or Twitter—I save most of my irrelevant drivel for coffee and truck forums—but I think the brainworm-causing damage of those platforms has started to outweigh their positive usefulness.
LOL. This made me think of that old song by Paul Simon (A Simple Desultory Philippic), I’m probably dating myself here:
“been Ayn Rand'd, nearly branded
Communist, 'cause I'm left-handed
That's the hand I use, well, never mind!”
anyhoo, The Child Tax Credit has cut child poverty by 1/2 and...
This is a very thoughtful, informed, measured post about the demise of BBB. It might very well happen just as you predict (although I hope universal pre-k, lower prescription drug costs and paid family leave make it in some form or fashion, at some point). You’re good at articulating what...
I’m simultaneously ecstatic to be ‘in the club’ with a reservation now that Ford isn’t taking them anymore, and crestfallen that, well, it doesn’t seem to mean much. ?♂️
I’m confused by this as well, but took it to mean they’ll be producing 800k by that time (which would be 2025, correct?). It’s likely my synapses are not firing correctly and need clarification.
July 24. As much as I’d like to have it, I’m not married to the Lightning; if a viable EV alternative comes along before it releases (either a full-sized suv, van, or truck), I’m jumping ship. But I remain optimistic and believe the stuff holding up the production and release will resolve...
I’m a late reservation holder and swing wildly between utter despondency and unfounded optimism. Today, for whatever reason (I suspect it was a good cup of coffee) I’m hopeful for an early 2023 delivery, which if you look at it from a geological perspective, it’s not that long of a wait at all.
I think it’s a waste of time to speculate on anything until there is resolution on the bill, especially as these types of threads inevitably fall into a political death spiral…but do carry on!
I reckon it’s a sinister confluence of chip shortage, supply chain fandangos, and general buttheadedness. It makes me wonder if we’ll ever get back to normal, however you define it.
LOL, right.
