  1. Engine Block Heater Thermal Photos (3.5L EcoBoost V6)

Definitely interesting photos for sure. I live in Ontario and plug my truck in on a timer usually if its below -15C, lots of the guys at work brag about their truck not needing to be plugged in…..I have never had an issue with it starting without the block heater but if you stand beside it...
  2. Engineering Explained: Summer / All-season / Winter tires, and FWD/RWD/AWD

100% right, I have ran dedicated winter tires the last 4 winters on my F150’s and it is definitely a big improvement over AT’s that are snowflake rated. I always say a lot of tires perform well in deeper snow, but it’s the slick stuff or light snow falls where an actual winter tire really stands...
  3. Delivery turn around from Dearborn.

I’m not sure what it’s like now, but in September 2021 my truck was at the dealer in eastern Ontario 6 days after being built. Rail to Montreal, then a 1 hour truck ride to my dealer, I thought that was a great turn around. I would think Dearborn to Detroit wouldn’t be more than a couple days...
  4. Dedicated Winter Wheels/Tires for Mountain Roads/Snow?

I use Yokohama Iceguard GO75 and have been very happy with them. I have used them for 3 winters and they work very well in Ivey and slick conditions, they are almost as quiet as the stock Hankooks.
  5. Factory Wheels with Aftermarket Tire Thread

I had Nitto Recon Grapplers in 275/60R20 installed today. I stuck with the XL load rating and I can’t tell any ride difference compared to the stock Hankooks, a tiny bit more road noise but not by much. They certainly change the look of the truck.
  6. 2023 tires?

Is it chrome package or sport? Also 18” or 20”. The chrome 20’s come standard with the Pirelli which is Outlined White Letter, but on Lariats you can select BSW which would give you the Hankooks. Sport package 20’s come with the BSW Hankooks.
  7. Upgrade to Max Tow Rear Brakes?

The Max Tow trucks are equipped with a different axle than the regular F150’s. So the odds of the mounting points being the same are slim to none I would say.
  8. IWE Grinding

It really sounded like my left front was grinding again this morning, made it a whole 4 days.
  9. IWE Grinding

I guess I never updated since my last post. Left side IWE was changed and dealer said the truck was still making noise, I took that to mean from the left side. When I picked it up they said the left side is good now but the right side is making noise as well, not nearly as loud as the left but...
  10. IWE Grinding

Update on my situation. I just called the dealer because my truck was supposed to be ready to go for 9am this morning and I hadn’t heard anything. Turns out they replaced the left front IWE and when they did they test drive the low speed grinding is till there. So they are still working on...
  11. Ford Canada Compared To Ford US Web Sites Rant.

I don’t know for sure but I would guess it comes down to the fact the US has 10x the population we do, so maybe it’s not worthwhile catering to us? Having said that if they already have the system in place for the US you would think it would be pretty easy to implement here.
  12. FX4 option on 14th Gen...?

I think the perceived value of the FX4 package depends on what other packages you get. For me max tow was the most important and already includes the locking rear diff, if I added FX4 as well I would have been paying for the locker twice. I was able to add the skid plates to the build for $120...
  13. IWE Grinding

Well the last 2 oil changes I had brought it up and they couldn’t recreate the sound. After the last one I picked up the truck and made two corners and the sound was there, called the dealership right away and said I was on my way back. I had to argue with them a bit as they just wanted to make...
  14. Fuel Rebar 6 20x9 +20 w/Nitto Terra Grappler 275/65/20 - installed photos

Very nice looking setup, all I can think about though is how much of a pain those wheels look to clean. Are the Terra Grapplers in the US winter rated now? I noticed that here in Canada they are a G2W now because they have the snowflake symbol. Toyo did the same thing with the AT2 here as well.
  15. IWE Grinding

Yes I have read all those threads and verified myself that the diff housing is not cracked. You could see the line of oil from the pinion seal. The dealer changed the IWE and front pinion seal this morning and I’ll get my truck back Monday morning. Hopefully that’s the last of the IWE issues for me.
  16. IWE Grinding

The grinding started a few days after I put my snow tires on in late November so yes it was likely below 0 (I’m in Canada). It’s was terribly load around christmas time and I almost feel like the teeth ground right off the IWE because it hasn’t been that bad since. Mostly makes the noise with...
  17. Front Axle Seal Leak on Passenger Side

My truck is currently getting an IWE replacement and front pinion seal. I noticed in December while under my truck to pull off the transmission diaper that was dragging on the road, that there was oils on the crossmember directly under the front diff. Last oils change they did not notice oil...
  18. IWE Grinding

My truck is currently in for an IWE replacement on the front left. 3rd time is the charm apparently as I had it in twice before and they couldn’t recreate the grinding noise. I spoke to the tech about the new IWE system and he said they have electric solenoid on them but it is still vacuum that...
  19. Adaptive Head Lights - Coming to the US???

They are most likely working as intended, when I first got my Lariat I didn’t really catch when the high beams would come on as there is no “flash”. Near as I can tell with the adaptive headlights the high beams gradually get brighter. I have also noticed that when meeting a car they don’t seem...
  20. Ford going cheap on the seats

I have a ‘21 Lariat and the seats are way way more comfy than the ‘20 Lariat and ‘16 XLT I had before this one. Of course it’s very subjective but I find them to be very comfortable.
