Five points for using sophistry correctly on a pick up truck forum.
Years ago on a motorcycle forum I had a guy call me a shiftless poltroon and challenge me to a sword duel over a disagreement on dual sport tires.

Knock on wood, I haven't had this problem towing, but I carry a Curt Echo as a peace of mind emergency back up. The info from Curt says it works fine with installed OEM controllers, giving priority to the Curt when it is installed. As I understand it, the plug just dead heads the input from the...
I gave this a try this week on a 350 mile round trip towing a 22' Grand Design trailer across Central PA. I am using the Blue Ox Sway Pro WD hitch.
Outbound leg, I had the truck sway control off and I got 9.8 MPG. Noticed a very slight bit of sway when around the big trucks, just enough to...
Any of you having problems tried an aftermarket brake controller as a temporary fix? I've been reading about the wireless Curt Echo controllers and am considering buying one to throw in the truck as an emergency backup.

I was wondering how nice it would play...
Mine did something similar. Suddenly, for about a week, no function, no updated vehicle status, nothing. Tried everything up to and including deleting and reinstalling the app. No luck. Then one day it just started working again. No problems for weeks now.
Not a clue what happened. I'm blaming...
For those of you who have researched this, how wide spread of a problem does it seem to be? I know we are still early in the release time frame with a new model year, but there has to be tens of thousands of these trucks out there already. I guess it's the old internet adage of you hear mostly...
You disconnected the battery in the truck itself, correct?
I was trying to reason out if the battery on board the trailer sent any power to the brake system or are they all separate circuits fed by the truck.
Thanks for the info. There are a few different TTs we are considering and all are coming in around 500 plus or minus. One thing I have learned in researching is that the tongue weights posted by the manufacturer are, shall we say, optimistic. That's why I want the safety margin.
So, looking at page 7 of the towing guide, am I correct in reading the max tongue weight load without a WD is 500lbs?
The trailer I'm planning on towing is about 480lbs tongue weight. My assumption is that a WD would be in order to bump up the max tongue weight to 1400lbs to give me a safety...
Been lurking this thread for info also as the OP is doing almost exactly what we plan to do, even the Grand Design trailer (except we're hunting an MKE).
Hopefully I can add to the knowledge base soon.
