Ah, this is helpful. Can anyone confirm this is the correct switch for an XLT (302A)? I have no chrome on the current switches and it would be nice to keep it that way, if possible.
Nice - I think this is the one I need. Is this one that you ordered? I'm having trouble finding it online (especially with the lack of product image detail on most sites...)
I did some research and took some measurements before my last trip (especially since I have some CO mountain tunnels to go through). My bike on the truck is actually the highest point at about 10.5.' Semis have a typical height of 13.5', so I felt good about that. No issues (other than that one...
Your new setup will be great! The small kayak is really easy to load up top (as long as it's not windy). It's only 10' and less than 40 lbs. The camper has built in crossbars and the ladder moves over to the side (just below the cross bars). I just stand the kayak up against the camper/ladder...
Here is my setup for 3 kayaks and 2 mountain bikes. This is with the Adarac pro rack on the truck and a Jack-It/Let's Go Aero rack on the camper hitch. The longest kayak is 13.5'
A few points from my perspective:
The kayak on the camper roof rack is extremely light or I wouldn't attempt to...
I think you'll be good. You'll just want to cut enough of the bedrail plastic cover back to have the bull ring rest completely on the metal upper surface of the front pockets. This should be flush and in the same plane as the rear pockets. The first pic in my July 5 post should help describe...
Following - Reynauds in an XLT... Certainly a retrofit is the way to go, but any experience with a decent heated cover? They all seem too cheap to be any good, but I have no actual experience with them.
What I saw on the front passenger side after I cut the pocket out was a black corrugated plastic sheath, roughly 3/8" in diameter. Not sure what's on the inside, but looked like typical protective wiring shroud. It ran across the width of the hole, maybe 3-4" below the top surface. Regretting...
The rails don't cause any interference or water ingress issues. The vertical rack "towers" do interfere with the seals on the sides of the cover when opening the cover, but it just takes a little extra force to push the cover segment past the tower (if that makes sense). I think they look a...
Possibly. I got mine through an accessories shop - this is the one (and yeah, the coating has been bombproof so far - I also had my bed sprayed).

I have the UnderCover Armor Flex Tri-Fold and would recommend. I have full access to the bed, zero leaking so far in 6 mos of use. Also very secure and supports quite a bit of weight (I can stand on it). I also like the Line-X coating on the top for durability. I paired it with the Adarac Pro...
Hey Greg,
Unfortunately, I did not measure, but I believe there is only about 1" of clearance until you hit the wire bundle. However, the bundle is flexible and can be pushed further down. The trick would be if you need the whole stake pocket space - that might interfere with where the wire...
Thanks for the work on this! I have an XLT so looking for the all-black switch and it seems I can only find them up through 2020 - do you know if they are the same for 2021?
Here's an example of what I'm finding (and I'm thinking it's not the same for 2021 - partly because the buttons are...
