Hello Dd08, my trailer brake problem was fixed by the software recall. My 2021 hybrid F150 was having intermittent problems but has been fine on 5 or 6 trips since the recall. Trailer backup assists works (with the physical sensor attached), though I don't find it useful.

i also use my power boost for a camping trailer and I would add this: turn off the climate control and radio as well as headlights and welcome lights. Less distraction and less power use (so less ICE running)

Have a tonneau cover and the power cable fits through the back corner while the cover is closed and locked.

Hi Ryan, thanks for this post. I was afraid of similar problems with my Escape trailer, but fortunately had none. I do have occasional trips when my trailer power controller first turns on (with about 10-12 amps to charge the battery), but after 1 or two resets the truck no longer trips.

I just finished a 2 week trip with 5 stops (and some big elevation change with braking). I had no problem. I had the recall repair in late April. So I will consider my problem fixed. If I have any problems (it was intermittent before), I will report back here.

Turbopilot: thanks for the update on your fix. Since you are still using the original 7-pin, that does rule out the 'bad connector'.

My update: I recently took my trailer on a short trip and had no problem with brake controller so it remains intermittent (2 'no trailer brake' problems in last 7 tows). I am still waiting for a Ford "customer experience specialist" to contact me after being given a case number.

I have replied to the Ford account and will let this thread know what happens.

Fluffer... you are right it wouldn't hurt, but my dual blade connector is molded to its cable which runs to a patch box mounted on the trailer frame. I am reluctant to change the cable (neatly run with many ties), but I made a test cable with connectors and a patch box in the middle to isolate...

I also have this trailer brake problem, and just found this thread. I have a 2021 HEV F150 and pull a ~3500 lbs Escape trailer. I have had two occurrences of the brakes not working, one started working while towing and the other started after a fuel stop (and shutdown/restart).
