That's why I will only expect 120 miles range during winter and 150 miles during summer.
Winter + heater + freeway > 75mph = range killer, consider 90-95% charging, and you cannot drain to 0 miles, plus battery degradation, expect 100-150 miles usable range for SR, and 150-200 for ER.
I thought orders for this year close in late March. Did not expect wave 6 in mid April.
$80k is a little hard swallow as of now since I have a Model X ordered last May and should be delivered in July.
I was notified by dealer twice about placing order but never received formal email from Ford. So I gave up weeks ago.
But Tuesday I received order invitation text from Ford while travelling. Just checked my account and I am able to order. Don't know if it is wave6 or even wave 7.
Only Lariat...
66 MPGe, 51kWh/100miles, and 300 miles range means 153 kWh battery usable capacity.
And Ford says battery capacity for ER is 133 kWh. So, why the mismtch?
That is NOT true.
MPGe calculation is based on how many kWh Lightnings draw from wall, not how many saved in battery.
Let's see when people get their trucks.
I am surprised that no one questioned the EPA range and MPGe numbers.
The math is pretty straight forward, MPGe number is the range that EV can drive with 33.7kWh. So, if an EV can drive 2 miles per kWh, MPGe is 67.4 miles.
So, SR Lightning has 98kWh usable capacity, with 68 MPGe, you can get...
2.35 mi/KwH x 33.6kWh = 79 MPGe
There is something wrong, SR with 99kWh battery could not achieve 230 miles with 68 MPGe. 68 MPGe is just 2.02 miles/kWh.
Same situation, ordered 5/19, dealer contacted me before wave 4. No more info, so I contacted them after wave 5, was told would be in wave 6, and now 2022 gone.
It is funny that you think you get better deal with a middle man.
But it is OK to have dealerships, I am perfectly fine with them, just don't force us to buy from them ONLY.
Give us the freedom to buy from car makers directly, and don't even try to prevent OTA, I don't need this kind of...
In order of importance to me: No more gas and gas smell, nearly free electricity from my solar panel, nearly zero maintenance, no worries about engine/transmission failure, instant torque.
More? Maybe frunk, this is important for F150 which doesn't have a trunk.
I have quite a few daily short...
Just found out that XLT SR does not have heated seats, this plus the missing heat pump make it miserable during winter. You have to choose between more cold miles, or heat up the whole cabin with resistance heater.
The only REAL update from Pro to XLT for me is 360 camera. I really hesitate to...
For solar, I am with PG&E, which has starting price $0.27/kWh winter off peak time. Summer peak is more than $0.42. When I charge, price would be $0.3-0.4. Which makes no economic sense.
Fortunately I installed 6.5kW system (almost) 4 years ago. It generates 11.5k kWh per year. With a Prius...
Be frankly, I am super excited but on the other hand, I am still debating whether I should order it.
In past 2 years (due to pandemic) we only put just over 15k on our 3 vehicles. My son went to college so we sold an old car. Now we have a van and a Prius. My daughter would get her permit next...
I ordered 8pm PST on 5/19, in California, to be more accurate, Sacramento area Folsom Lake Ford. Did not expect to order this year due to high EV demand in California. But I just received email (missed the phone call due to meeting).
Wave 4? Can not decide if I should order it. Below is the...
