So the biggest allocation for new additional chargers is going to... places that *already* have some of the highest concentration of chargers. Hmm...
If the purpose of this whole thing is to encourage nationwide adoption of EVs, and the if one of biggest hurdles is range anxiety.. wouldn't it...
They've been promising solid state batteries for smartphones for at least 6 years now. I'm certainly not going to hold my breath for SSBs for vehicles.
lol! I thought I was the only one that happened to! I ended up putting a camper shell on mine and enjoy the secure(ish) watertight space that people can't throw rubbish in.
The SR is certainly cheaper, but the ER adds not only the additional range, but also the additional onboard charger (1 per battery for a higher sustained charging rate) as well as the 80A home charger. Whether that combination is "worth it" or not is really a matter of personal opinion.
There are other charger networks other than EA on the Ford network. (Greenlots, EV Connect, Chargepoint, FLO, and EVgo at present) I wouldn't expect Tesla to be added anytime soon.. They do plan to open up their network to other manufacturers in late 2022, but only in Norway. There is...
Ultimately, the "cleanliness" of charging will depend on location. If users have solar/wind onsite that really takes them *mostly* out of the equation, but there is no set percentage of how much electricity is generated by fossil fuels, nuclear, wind, solar, etc. It varies by state to state...
This was oh... 18 yrs ago or so, so additional verifyable information is definitely more readily available now, and people can have solid numbers going in and not have to blindly trust dealerships to tell you the truth on their invoices.;-)
I lost faith in the whole "showing of the invoice" thing after my roommate worked at a car dealership one time. They had a program that they used to custom print their "Invoices" with any price they wanted on them. Completely indistinguishable from the "actual" invoice. He showed me the...
That charger should charge anything with a CCS plug.
The 2nd question is a really good one. Hardware-wise, it should theoretically be able to do the same with any vehicle; The question is whether or not they lock that feature down through software or not.
I am getting the lightning for both personal and business use. Personally, I may take 2 trips/year.. but for my work I occasionally need to travel throughout the southeast. There is no place that I need to go that does not have fast chargers on the way to or near the destination. I'm looking...
In theory, the charge curve should be different with the Extended range.. in that configuration, there are two batteries, each with their own charger vs a single charger with the standard range. Of course all of this is just speculation until they actually build them and release the info on...
