I'm thinking maybe the fuses were causing the different sensor warning issues and the loose connector near the battery was causing the start/stop issue. Don't want to speak to early, but I'm just happy it seems to be fixed. But I'm still going to turn the auto start/stop off every time I drive.
Good tip @ScottBB, about 90% of the fuses in the fuse box under the hood were not fully set. Some of them were surprisingly loose. I also checked the fuse box in the passenger side, those were all fully set. I only drop about 20 mins today, so not enough to tell if that fixed it.
Taking it to...
I briefly checked a few fuses today because I tried to reset them by pulling them out and putting them back in. I checked fuse 37 (Advanced driver-assistance systems) and 9 (Combined sensor module). They seem to be in there snug. I couldn't get them out I was going to try pliers tomorrow.
When...
I did find this googling around: https://www.fordescape.org/threads/2017-escape-auto-start-stop-problem-restart-engine-message.99521
A few people are saying a new battery fixed the issue. I wonder if sitting out in the parking lot without being used degraded the battery?
And thanks I just want...
That is a good idea, thank you. Unfortunately Canada doesn't have the same lemon law, but ya at this point I think I want a new truck. I know intermittent problems like this are hard to diagnose and fix and I don't have faith that they will figure it out.
For anyone interested here is my timeline:
I spoke too soon. Something seriously messed up with my trucks computers.
Sometimes when it auto stops (auto start/stop feature) it will refuse to auto start. All the screens restart. And I have to turn the truck off, and back on using the normal switch. When it turns it back on I get a bunch...
They replaced the shifter, they think faulty part.
When I picked it up it had "Shift System Fault". I thought I've waited so long I'll take it home and get it fixed later.
But then on the way home it shifted itself into neutral while I was driving. Luckily I was on surface street and going...
Some good news and bad news.
Good news I got my truck, brought it home, its beautiful. And I got the Goodyear tires I wanted. All the the 18" FX4's on the dealer lot had Goodyears.
Bad news, I picked it up even though it said "System System Fault" during the PDI. It was driving fine on the...
The top one is lead foot the bottom one is carbonized grey. Way more similar in color than I expected. I'm going with carbonized. And I got the dealer to give it to me today without cleaning it. So I'm going to be driving it off the lot. Finally! What a journey. This thread made the wait more...
An interesting turn of events fo me. The other truck being delivered was also ordered in my name. Both trucks are the exact same except one is carbonized grey and the other is lead foot grey.
Now the only question is which color do I pick
Your dealer lets you pick it up the same day it arrives? That's awesome. I was told it would take them 2 days to get it ready. Congrats, I'm sure you son is super thrilled as well.
