Being in 2H helps a lot as well, if you switch to ECO it automatically goes to it but I usually stick with normal mode and 2H for better accelerator response
I have some posts in HEV-HAZARD that sound similiar scenario. Ford knows about bad seals on hybrid battery connectors that can lead to water intrusion. May be worth the dealer checking out the connector for any issues first since they hit everything else on my truck instead which was a waste...
Mileage continues to improve since the wiring harness / connector replacement. A trip last night through some hilly suburb areas yielded over 28MPG. Another trip through scenic highway with A/C and four adults yielded 29MPG. The electric mode stays engaged longer now.
For anyone having...

There is a smaller 12V battery under the rear passenger seat. the cover pops off once you release a sprung tab. I had disconnected both this and the main battery to try and hard reset the entire system (which it did successfully, everything went dead), unfortunately my issues were related to...
Finally got our truck back, a new wiring harness finally cleared the issue. Link to the 2021 hybrid transmission problems thread has photos of the connector that had water in it (known factory sealant issue). More details...
we got our truck last week after 1.5 months in the shop (just as long as we actually got to use it) - the last 'fix' to replace the entire wiring harness that connects to the hybrid battery / power system (i'm guessing it goes back to onboard power and up to hybrid transaxle given the shop had...
A more recent trip on a hilly scenic byway in iowa yielded just over 29MPG @ 55MPH with A/C and a full crew cab. since our hybrid battery connector and harness were replaced the truck seems to be utilizing more electric power in hybrid modes. flat interstate at 70MPH is still around 21-22 MPG...

Sharing my experience too with a bad wiring connector seal subject to water intrusion, I have a few posts on my month long saga, now coming up on truck in the shop as long as we actually got to use it...
This is the connector directly to the hybrid battery according to the dealership. The new harness was supposed to be delivered yesterday and they're anticipating a couple of days to make the replacement. They know the factory is not sealing these properly, and personally if the contacts or...
Sorry for the slow updates, just as bad as ford at this point with expedient responses. The 'high' voltage connector to the hybrid battery showed some arcing marks on it been 1.5 weeks just to locate a replacement harness hoping to be in next week. Over a month without our hybrid now, coming...
Final issue the service crew is tracking down is "powertrain malfunction / reduced power". They believe it is a wiring harness issue with connections not being fully sealed from the factory, ford engineer said three other cases of this happening. They are opening all plug connection s and...
My vote is for hybrid, I think the start stop crap is just that, but you're only going to see a difference on city mileage, that's where it shines. Now there are two other reasons I like having the larger battery to run: less wasted engine run time if you use the onboard generator or extended...
The ratings have been dead on for previous cars I have owned. Bottom line I expect maybe +/-10% but everyone's numbers here indicate consistent values well below that.
2 weeks now without our truck, not really any progress and they've stopped giving me any meaningful updates. Early last week they replaced the main battery like that was going to do anything (I tried a hard reset disconnecting both batteries prior to calling ford for the tow anyway). I asked...
Any Updates from anyone on this? Our truck first threw the "stop safely now" and FordPass showed the HEV Hazard and a Reduced Powertrain Output warning. Been in the shop since it failed ON OUR WEDDING DAY out on our land last weekend.
Failed on Saturday afternoon (mind you I had been using...
I watch the 'This Trip' screen religiously. In the city the BEST i've ever gotten is 23 MPG, but most commonly around 21-22MPG. I've seen a difference in the city using Eco mode over Normal mode but not more than 1-1.5 MPG. Highway the best i've gotten is about 22MPG (<65MPH speeds only on...
