You mentioned it didn't rattle when it was raining out.
If I'm not mistaken, don't hot rodders sometimes use water injection in the intake so they can run more spark advance without detonation?
This might support your suggestion that it's a fuel management / spark management issue.
I also wonder...
Yes; friction tape is still working!
I'm gonna "stick" with it, rather than risk having the dealer try to adjust the door / hinge / striker plate which could result in wind noise.
My 2004 SC doors didn't make this noise, but then again the 2004 didn't have the funky 180 degree opening hinge...
I brought my truck to a different dealer. Service guy said that rattles aren't covered under warranty ... but next time I had it in for service or an oil change, they'd take a look at the noise as a goodwill gesture. He said it's tricky to adjust door alignments and could wind up creating a...
Driver's side door on 2021 Lariat supercab makes a noise on rough roads that's somewhere between a squeak and a rattle. I can't tell if the noise is from the front door, rear door, or where the two doors meet. Had it back to the dealer (who kept it for a day in their body shop). When I picked...
That sounds different than the noise minivanracer is getting; yours does sound like a rattle. Maybe a loose exhaust bracket?
Do you have the un-used clips (clip nuts) in the photo I posted @ #6? I don't hear mine rattle from inside the truck, but they rattle when I tap on the cross member.
Good that you shared the recording of how it sounds. My 5.0 doesn't make that noise, so the noise isn't 'normal.' The exhaust sounds perfect, so the engine may not be skipping or anything. Is the oil level totally full? How many miles have you put on it? Has it made the noise since day 1...
Glad to hear your truck arrived and is perfect.
I forgot to respond to my own request for Zombie truck condition. Mine was ordered 2/25, produced (but with missing chips) 4/21, and finally delivered 7/28. It arrived in pristine condition (no chassis rust, perfect paint, etc). I've since put ~...
I have a factory drop-in bedliner...which fills with water every time it rains. Unless the truck is parked facing uphill, it doesn't drain.
Any reason I shouldn't drill a drain hole in each front corner (through bedliner and through bed)?. Of course, would have to check underneath to make sure...
Thanks.
Maybe next time I'll jack up the rear of the truck. It'd be easier (and less messy) if the oil came out the front of the tray.
Adding a photo (for others who may read this thread). Blue arrow is where I would LIKE the oil to drain; Red arrow is where it decided it wanted to drain.
Changed the oil today @ 1000 miles.
I had thought that the oil filter would drip into the black plastic tray mounted below it and drain out the front at what looks like an exit trough (in front of the cross member in the photo below). But instead, the oil that dripped out of the filter as I was...
Changed the oil and filter today at 1000 miles.
In the area of the oil pan drain, there's a sheet-metal bracket bolted to the cross member which supports the rear of the air deflector / engine noise sound-deadener panel. I ASSUMED the bracket was designed so that oil draining from the pan would...
Mine has two unused "spring nuts" in the metal bracket under the engine. The bracket is bolted to the cross member, and it seems it's purpose is to hold the air deflector / sound deadener that's under the engine. The spring nuts rattle if you tap on the bracket, so I suspect they'd rattle if...
I just did an oil change at 1000 miles. Zero consumption of oil.
I have not deactivated my cylinder deactivation.
But quite frankly, I have not been able to detect cylinder deactivation working, either.
I haven’t matched up the key patterns yet, but suspect it is the same as the key hidden in the KeyFOB shown in the photo.
Do you guys have the green 4-quadrant plug in your trucks (under the passenger seat near the console)? My Lariat has a bench seat; maybe it is a harness function for...
Found this key, which I assume was used by contractors when they added missing chips to my truck (while it sat for 3 months in Dearborn) or by the transport company. Also found the piece of production paperwork (clarifying my truck is U.S. bound (not Canada or export?). But what is the...
