  1. F150 Tail Lights: Easy to Steal, Expensive to Replace!

I do not think any tonneau will completely stop it except maybe that Diamondback but I bet thieves know which ones have the more vulnerable latch mechanisms and look for them first. If I still had my Bakflip i'd be trying to rig a plate up to cover that wire from the direction of the tailgate...
  2. F150 Tail Lights: Easy to Steal, Expensive to Replace!

Tonneau doesn't look busted so I'm guessing it's got that wire latch that someone was able to actuate by going through the tailgate seal gap, popping mechanism on both sides with one yank? How much better off are the people with old fashioned bedrail clamps? I assume maybe you'd need to at...
  3. Tail and headlights flashing randomly while parked

Any work done to the truck recently? After the dropping tailgate recall on mine they had to reflash the computer. In the process They scrambled software that caused my headlights to come on by themselves every 10 minutes.
  4. Rear diff gear oil change at 9000km

I changed my front and rear at 15k. Probably do my first trans drain and fill end of this year at about 25k and 2.5 years. Maybe transfer case end of next year. I tend to do my first fluid services relatively early in the life of my trucks. Only thing I trust to 90-100k without touching it is...
  5. Bak X4s and Truxedo sentey in cold weather

Couple years ago I put an inexpensive Ruggedliner hard folder on my Powerboost when new. It gets the job done and does not leak. I am looking at options for a little more convenience. I was looking at these because I like that they roll up and leave me an open bed without blocking the window...
  6. Squeaking

If it is while going into and out of ICE mode most people are getting this diagnosed as a failing heat exchanger valve actuator. It often not does crap the bed all at once overnight but when wear starts to accelerate you get a squeak that will eventually lead to failure if unaddressed. i had...
  7. Powerboost CEL P237C/Exhaust Heat Exchanger Leak Megathread

Got my 2021 back today. Heat exchanger and spigots were replaced along with an oil change and tire rotation. Squeak is gone now. Part PL3Z-5A212-C for a 157" wb truck. I'd be curious to know if that's a new one or same as always. took a bit over a week to get the part. Had me on and out in a day.
  8. Powerboost squeak

Threw a code in March, diagnosed as heat exchanger. Still no drive ability issues but am due to Get a heat exchanger and for some reason a new cat tomorrow under warranty. Didn't think the catalytic converter was part of it but I guess so. I guess if the valve sticks or malfunctions even just...
  9. Exhaust Heat Exchanger

OK so on visit one they diagnosed heat exchanger and ordered the part. On visit 2 they kept it most of the day then said it has to come back for a catalytic converter to complete the repair. After a short back order that arrived and it goes in Monday for hopefully the final time on this. Is the...
  10. Ditch lights vs car wash

Not ditch lights but When I had 100$ Hellas Driving beams on a Safari bar bar on my Tundra an automated wash would break the plastic housing. Pay for metal housings and recess them in some way so they're protected.
  11. Exhaust Heat Exchanger

Here to join the faulty heat exchanger club. 2021 xlt 4x4 with 22k. Powertrain fault/reduced power came up leaving the driveway a week and a half ago. Went away when I turned it off and on and never came back on. A week later the dealer read it and said I need a heat exchanger. They ordered on...
  12. Ford cutting workforce at F-150 Lightning plant in Dearborn

Manufacturers ramped up production of a product there wasn't super strong demand for due to government pressure from bureaucrats who have never held down a real job or paid a personal financial price for creating an undesirable product that doesn't sell. incentives expanded use and in more...
  13. Powerboost CEL P237C/Exhaust Heat Exchanger Leak Megathread

21 XLT 4x4 with 22k I got the powertrain malfunction light last week for 5 minutes, went off, never came on again in another 100-plus miles of driving. i thought it might have been a battery issue because the truck had sat for a bit. But The dealer just read the heat exchanger code from the...
  14. 4WD vs Auto 4x4

Ok so in rain I've been burning out and sliding everywhere in 2wd my entire adult life without knowing it, but also without hitting anything on a wet road? I guess I am lucky to have lived through 6 years driving my Challenger RT in rain before I got rid of it. It felt fine the whole time...
  15. 4WD vs Auto 4x4

I have driven a Powerboost for two years now. Winters have been mild so probably seen an hour total in 4wd the entire time, even through rains
  16. 4WD vs Auto 4x4

I guess if the comfort blanket feels good for you. People have said stuff like this to me on other boards and I can't process it no matter how many times I hear it. Wet pavement is not a loose surface, if you're doing things to break traction on it you're better off not doing them than using 4wd...
  17. 4WD vs Auto 4x4

I do not use 4wd in rain, I drive with appropriate caution to avoid spinning out. I have never in 2 decades driving pickups felt the need for 4wd in rain and honestly don't understand what people think it does for them. My main use for 4A would be in snow storms when there is long patches of...
  18. Powerboost squeak

I have had the sound for 8-10 month. Started a little over a year in. Began out of the blue one day while I was letting her run to hear the radio while I wiped her down. Truck runs fine and coolant levels remain stable. It comes and goes with weather and how warn the engine is. I have Geico...
  19. Dealerships or is it just mine...

The only "failure to present" scenarios I ever encountered were rotor issues on my 04 Dakota and a shifter issue on my manual 2016 challenger and in both cases they did not charge me to test drive and tell me nothing found. I never encountered tricky diagnosis issues on my Tundra or F150. One...
  20. Bought ‘23 Platinum PB with no sunroof

Going on 2 years old, 20k-plus on my '21 Powerboost. Sunroof is in perfect shape so far. I open it any time weather permits and frequently have the shade open. It was a must have option for me. No regrets. I cleaned and lubed once and I think frequent use helps keep seals pliable and prevents...
