Just to followup on the generator mode "hangup" thing.
After the first startup hang yesterday, it never hung the rest of the testing time - about 4 hours or so and about 12 cycles or so.
I started up this AM to do some more testing and the generator mode hung up on 58% on first run.
I tapped...
OK, I'm going to assume that the flow rate I see on OBDLink is reasonably accurate.
So, @ 1000 RPM I will accept ~1.2 gallons per hour. I don't want to wait week to let the truck run till empty and actually measure the amount used and couldn't find any other data. I suppose I could run a full...
Yeah. With camping season coming up I'm particularly interested in monitoring the HV battery and ICE run times. Nice to be able to do that "remotely" with the MX+.
Playing ( errrr, I mean working ) with it the last couple of days I came across an anomaly I hadn't noticed before.
I was in -...
Just getting back into OBDLink with my shiny new OBDLink MX+ I was using old Wifi elm327.
So have any of y'all determined the accuracy of the Fuel Rate PID - gal/hr?
When I selected my truck - 2023 - OBDLink automatically chose Intake manifold absolute pressure as fuel calculation method...
So I bought the 10 year/125K plan with $100 deductible. The 0% financing with Granger was a no-brainer. A little misnomer though, because they still charge 5.6% of purchase price as "administrative fee". Still, cheap money. I'm kinda bummed though that I don't get a card or something or a set of...
Anybody have a working address for api server?
Had been using the below for siri shortcuts and now it reports "server not found"
https://usapi.cv.ford.com/api/vehicles/v4/vin/status
Thanks!
...and another equation for charging rate while under load. Yike!! Nevermind.
As you say, best to just put various loads on and measure fuel consumption over time.
Sorry for thinking out loud.
Just to continue....
If you could measure fuel flow, why would you need multiple days?
If we could measure fuel flow @ 1000 watts, fuel flow @ 1500 watts, fuel flow @ 2500 watts, etc.; could we not create a curve ( yes, I know it would not be linear ) to plot energy vs. fuel usage?
Thanks! Fun!
It would be an interesting experiment! I was hoping someone had already done it!
BTW, I have to take exception with you're point:
"Low demand = no engine."
I'm sure you know that even with no load on the generator, the ICE will still cycle. I have measured and others have also, that...
I guess the better question to ask is at percentage of rated power, what is the fuel efficiency?
@ 50% load - 3600 W
@ 25% load - 1800 W
An interesting table listing the fuel efficiency of a number of generators can be found here...
I apologize if this has been asked and answered. I have done numerous "Distance to Empty" tests myself and have searched the forums and always come up with observed DTE data. Has anyone actually seen any data that can equate kilowatt hour usage of the 7.2 kW system to actual fuel used? It's...
We all do!!
I just happen to be doing some ( new ) RV heating tests with my '23 7.2 kW. Sure would be nice to control generator mode from under the covers!
