  1. 114 load rating on max tow

Discount Tire is selling Blizzak p275/65R18 winters for $188. The tire has A load rating of 114, slightly lower than what shipped in my F-150 (116). The most I tow is a cargo trailer that can weigh up to #7000. My gut reaction is losing about #150 per tire in rated load probably will make no...
  2. Where to mount a Noco 5x1

Hey, I picked up a Noco 5x1 which I plan on mounting in my 2021 PB. The problem is finding a place to put it. The engine bay is pretty much full. Right now I have it zip tied to the battery strap and it does not hit the hood when closed. Another option is to mount it on top of the fuse box...
  3. School me on TPMS sensors

Hi all, I recently picked up some used wheels I will use for winter tires. The wheels are off of a 2019 F-150 and they do not have TPMS sensors. I looked at the price of new sensors and was somewhat shocked at the range of prices. Ford sensors (TPMS68) run about $60 each, but aftermarket are...
  4. Battery replacement costs

I came across this YouTube video of a poor chap in Canada that had his Ioniq5 totaled because the cost of a replacement battery was more than the original price he paid for the car. This really makes me wonder what the cost of the hybrid and ev batteries are for the PB and Lighting. Has...
  5. SL tires @ 51 psi vs XL tires

I have been under the impression that SL rated tires with 51 psi max pressure were basically the same as XL rated tires. Both are 4 ply and have max psi of 51. Weights appear to in the high 30 to mid 40 lbs for 275/65r18. Load ratings are similar too. So, is there really a difference?
  6. Will Gen13 TPMS work on Gen14

Quick question. I am looking at picking up some used wheels and winter tires. They are off a 2019 F-150. Will these work with my 2021 Gen14?
  7. Are skinnier snow tires OK?

I have been looking for some used wheels for my 2021 PB SCREW that I ou,d use with winter tires.. I came across a set of wheels off of a 2019 F-150 with Hankook I-Pike winters on them. The wheels have a few blemishes but they do come with TPMS sensors. The tires are 255/70R18 compared to the...
  8. Dip stick plug - why Ford?

I have met my match with the stupid dip stick plug on my 10r80 transmission. I noticed I have a pan gasket leak/seepage and therefore I want to check the fluid level. Unfortunately I cannot get the freaking plug off. Why Ford, why would you screw in an aluminum plug so ungodly tight. I can’t...
  9. Always on ICE mode

How do you keep the Powerboost engine running? I want to check my transmission fluid level and the engine must be running and in park. Only way I can do this now is to have someone in the cab constantly blipping the throttle a little. Thanks.
  10. Anyone try Lasfit for turn signal on XLT

I came across these bulbs and they looked interesting. Has anyone install ‘em? https://www.lasfit.com/products/4257-amber-led-turn-signal-bulbs-t3-series?rq=na_led-bulbs~mk_ford~md_f-150~yr_2021~zq_xlt~dz_front-tum-signal-light
  11. Lowest profile wiper blades

Hi all, I am wondering what the lowest profile wiper blades are that fit our trucks without an adaptor. My last set of wipers where Motorcraft and they stick up a bit. They look like trico blades to me. The Fords are fine, I just want the arm closed to the wiper.
  12. I broke my nuts (captured)

Yesterday I decided to change out the transfer case (TC) fluid. This is an incredibly simple procedure. However I have the TC skid plate which has to come off unless you want the fluid to drain onto the plate and make a gigantic mess. The skid plate is attached to the frame with 8mm bolts...
  13. Diff fluid change on a 3/4 floating axle

Hi all, I just completed a fluid service of the rear differential on my 2021 PB SCREW. My truck has 28k miles. This rear end, part of the max tow package, is sufficiently different from the traditional 9.75 that I thought some could use my experience to guide them. I had read and watched...
  14. Post-wiper recall question

Hi all, two weeks ago I had the wiper-recall service done on my 2021 PB. Today was the first day it has rained since then and I immediately noticed my driver-side wiper was over driving and hitting the A pillar. When I got home I popped off the wiper arm and clocked it one click which fixed...
  15. Transmission fluid change using an extractor?

Has anyone done a tranny fluid change using only an oil extractor? Yes I know you will not get all the fluid out, but if I can simply replace half of it with fresh I would feel better. My thought was to extract as much as possible via the “dip stick” tube and simply refill with the exact...
  16. Half shaft replacement

Hey, I just received a notice from Ford to bring in my truck to have the rear axle half shafts replaced. I was planning on changing out my rear diff lub, but if Ford has to do this as part of the repair there is no reason for me to do it. Does anyone know if they half to open the differential to...
  17. Finally - 700 mile club

I finally made it into the 700 mile club.
  18. Changing the differential cover

Hi all, I do fair bit of towing and I am planning on changing my rear diff lube every 30K miles. I know what the manual says about change intervals, but I am changing it anyhow. The question I am wrestling with is if I should replace the cover with one that has a drain plug. I plan on using a...

  20. My truck interior smells like a wet campfire

Hi all, like many others east of the Mississippi, air quality in West Michigan has been pretty bad this past week as a result of smoke from the Canadian wildfires. Now my truck interior smells like a campfire that has been put out with water. I would rather get rid of the odor rather than...
