  1. Shopping for a 2023 F-150?

I came across this article. Anyone hunting for a 2023 to get a "deal", may find this interesting..... https://www.carscoops.com/2024/04/f-150-sales-slump-spurs-fords-controversial-dealer-incentive-plan/
  2. Replaced my battery with an H8. My observations:

OP here with an update. I started this thread after upgrading my factory H7 size battery to a H8 on January 19. As previously documented, like so many other F-150 owners, I was experiencing a myriad of annoying little electrical issues, and concluded that the root cause was the battery. And like...
  3. Turn off Turn by Turn in instrument panel

Does that turn it off just in the gauge cluster, or turn it off all together (gauge cluster and Sync4 screen)?
  4. Turn off Turn by Turn in instrument panel

Like @JDaleo , I too would like turn off the turn-by-turn display in the instrument cluster, but keep it on the Sync4 screen. Also like him, the first method did not work for me. I just tried the second method, and it didn't work for me either. The original AsBuilt configuration for my truck was...
  5. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Trailer Hitch Extended Rack System

Brilliant idea! But then again, I'm easily entertained... ;)
  6. Opinions Wanted

Wow! I'm not use to this! You actually want my opinion? This is a real treat for me - I'm used to be being told my opinion isn't wanted ("just shut the f*** up!) ;) So, your primary complaints are fuel mileage and turning radius? Let me ask you this: why did you get a truck? I'm not...
  7. Noco Genius Users - Pulsing Green

Yeah, that's just how these NOCOs work. A battery can be fully charged, and if you hook up the NOCO charger to it, it will show a single red indicator light (indicating 25% charge). Then after a few minutes, a second red light (indicating 50% charge), after a few more minutes, the two reds plus...
  8. XLT Power Folding Mirrors Retrofit - How To

The conflict in descriptions of the tow mirrors (having BLIS/not having BLIS) was answered previously by another poster - but in a different thread. Supposedly, P/N ML3Z-17696-DA are BLIS capable. The speculation is that some dealers never updated the description on their respective websites...
  9. NHTSA Safety Recall (23V-896) on 113,000 F-150 Trucks with Trailer Tow Max Duty Package

Yes, you are correct. There is a Class 2A fit, 3A fit, etc. A socket head capscrew has a higher precision fit classification than a hex head capscrew, and so on. Man, we have fallen off of the path of the original topic, haven't we? ;)
  10. NHTSA Safety Recall (23V-896) on 113,000 F-150 Trucks with Trailer Tow Max Duty Package

Sometimes threads can get "dinged" (damaged) in transit. So, you either throw it away or.... yep, use a die....
  11. NHTSA Safety Recall (23V-896) on 113,000 F-150 Trucks with Trailer Tow Max Duty Package

It is not that unusual for a die to not go smoothly onto a bolt, because bolts aren't made with those kind of dies. A lot of us have tap and die sets, where the dies quite literally cut the metal to make an external thread. But capscrew manufacturers don't cut the external thread. Instead...
  12. Do I need angles shims if I remove rear blocks and a 1 inch lowering shackle?

To be clear, what I wrote earlier was a virtual summary of other posts/threads that I have read - they are not "my findings". I have conducted zero research on this outside of doing what you are doing (reading forums) and my own experience. However, I fully understand the reasoning and logic of...
  13. Do I need angles shims if I remove rear blocks and a 1 inch lowering shackle?

Which bed do you have? I believe a regular cab with a 5' or 6.5' bed is a 145" wheelbase, but an 8' bed is a longer wheelbase. But it has been awhile since I've looked at that, so I could be mistaken. With the truck on the ground, use a protractor to measure the angle of the driveshaft...
  14. Do I need angles shims if I remove rear blocks and a 1 inch lowering shackle?

There are a number of posts/threads on this subject. Having read most (all?) of them, my take-away is that it depends on your wheelbase. The shorter wheelbase trucks (145") don't seem to need a shim, and the blocks are not angled. The longer wheelbase trucks are a different story. I have a 145"...
  15. FORScan changes necessary after battery upgrade?

YES! Total brain fart on my end! Thanks for catching that. Thanks! Things are clearing up quite quickly now....
  16. FORScan changes necessary after battery upgrade?

I saw that earlier in the BCM section of the spreadsheet, and it caught my eye, but I couldn't make sense of it. It indicates that it is for configuring the battery (sorry, @Micho523 ), but I couldn't interpret what it was trying to tell me - or if necessary... 🤷‍♂️
  17. FORScan changes necessary after battery upgrade?

Thank you. Your answer is considerably more precise than my question! We'll see if anyone corrects you on this.
  18. FORScan changes necessary after battery upgrade?

Last month I upgraded my battery and increased the size to an H8. The thought has only now occurred to me... Do I need to make any changes through FORScan to make the truck aware of the battery size upgrade? (Yes, the BCM was re-set when I installed the battery.) Are there modules that are are...
  19. Air Bags For Trucks With On-Board Scales: Caution

Good for you - I'm glad to hear it! It sounds like Firestone has gotten their act together. The intent of my original post was to warn people that Firestone's product specific to the Onboard Scales equipped trucks was released to the market prematurely - it wasn't "ready for prime time". I knew...
  20. What Rear Shock Upgrade Will Fix My Bumpy Ride?

I posted a link to my original post on this matter (the link that you said that you didn't read) just so as to avoid repeating what I had already stated earlier. But, things don't always go according to plan.... ;) One of the points that I covered in relaying my experience was the fact that...
